A SECOND CHANCE FOR IRISH AUDIENCES TO HEAR JOHN KINSELLA’S TENTH SYMPHONY, DESCRIBED BY THE COMPOSER AS ‘VERY MUCH AN EXPRESSION OF MYSELF’. First heard in 2012 just weeks before Kinsella’s 80th birthday, it was hailed by The Irish Times for its ‘spare linear style, moments of fierce, trumpet-topped intensity’ and a finale that ‘moves with foot-tapping clarity’. Bruckner’s expansive ‘Romantic’ Symphony is a magnificent exercise in recreating the medieval countryside of his native Austria, complete with vivid hunting scenes, evocative birdsong, pastoral colour and an altogether blazing climax.
