Can You Solve This ? A Digital Campaign for the Right of Education in Iran

Can You Solve This? is a campaign that aims to bring attention to human rights abuses in Iran. In particular, it focuses on the systematic denial of education which the Iranian government uses as a tool of persecution toward numerous groups of students. Those affected by this systematic persecution include student activists, religious minorities, human right defenders, women rights supporters, ethnic minorities etc. The campaign aims to raise awareness and activate individuals as well as institutions and organizations.    The centerpiece of the campaign is the website “can-you-solve-this.org,” which shares with its visitors a short animated video clip that visually outlines the situation and problems at hand. After viewing the clip, the site visitor is able to send pre-drafted emails to political representatives asking for their support in addressing these problems.    To increase participation in the campaign we will use QR-codes in creative and farreaching ways to attract people’s interest.

QR CODES: What are they and why use them? ‣ Quick response codes (“QR Codes”) are a type of barcode which can include text, data or URLs. They are among of the most popular 2D barcodes. ‣ Users scan QR codes with their smartphone and are directed to a specific set of data - such as text message, a video or directed to website. ‣ QR codes are a wonderful way to bridge offline content with online content. ‣ It can measure response rates with the highest degree of precision. ‣ They are free of charge - all you need is a QR reader application on your smartphone (many phones have them by default).
