The type of classes and programs offered are as varied and diverse as the seniors that attend them. To assist you in keeping healthy we offer aerobics: Low Impact Exercise, Tai Chi and Ping Pong. For those of you who prefer alternative ways to keep in shape, we offer a variety of dance classes – country & western line dancing, both beginner and intermediate and Zumba Gold. If you need a break from all that exercise we have duplicate bridge, mah jong, scrabble and pool. We also offer a number of classes such as arts and crafts and book clubs. If you're hungry, our Center offers delicious, healthy and creative cuisine provided by Council on Aging of Sonoma County. Never before have today's seniors been so healthy, active and vigorous as they are today. We are very proud of the fact that our Center's programs appeal to such a wide range of ages, interests and physical abilities. We hope you'll stop in and check us out for yourself – we think you'll be very glad you did. 4 week sessions Community Center Meeting Room #3

Capoiera is both a martial art and a dance, where each individual adds their own personality. Unlike most martial arts, capoeira is rooted in African rituals, which includes a strong music component that connects the players in a shared rhythm. Through exploring physical movements, music and cooperative play, students will increase self-confidence and self-expression. We will go upside-down, sideways and backwards, do handstands, kicks and dodges, dance, sing, clap and play percussion instruments. We will learn Portuguese words and phrases through songs of Capoiera. Capoiera is a language of the body that allows you to be alive and present with your spirit. It is a dance of respect, humility, playfulness and vulnerability. Amazonas has been playing Capoiera since 2001. She has a background in Contact-Improvisation and Authentic Movement. She has been teaching Capoiera since 2006 to both children and adults. Her classes emphasize cooperative play and allow each individual to grow and develop at one’s own pace.
