SAFE & SANE FOURTH OF JULY Fireworks season is almost upon us. The Department of Public Safety works hard to get undeveloped parcels mowed and heavy brush trimmed before the Fourth of July. Most neighborhood fireworks are often safe and well managed. Some are not. What does the term “illegal firework” mean? Anything which explodes, flies or launches into the air is considered illegal. Stationary devices are considered “safe and sane.” To be certain, purchase from a local non-profit.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT - GOOD FOOD, GOOD TIMES, AND GOOD PEOPLE Come join neighbors, Public Safety officers, city staff, and local businesses at our annual National Night Out event. Enjoy an evening of fun activities, local food vendors, and good old-fashioned community interaction.

If you bring fireworks from outside the area, you may be fined $1,000. There will be a large presence of patrol officers this year, so think twice about using any illegal fireworks. Fireworks are allowed inside the city limits. Please use them in a safe manner with a hose nearby and on a paved area. Sober adults should be responsible for the display.

Mark you calendar for this all-age event on Tuesday, August 6 from 5 - 8:00 pm. at the City Center Plaza between the Public Safety Building and the Public Library.
