WILDROSE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The objective of the Wildrose Community Centre was to come up with design solutions for a renovation for a school. The school would be repurposed into a community centre where multiple disciplinary classrooms will be utilized while communal spaces can be rented out to other community members. The concept of “energy� was created from the idea of having a space that will stimulate and motivate guests to get involved within the community.

Research and development revolved around finding the optimum solution that would provide ease to the workers and guests to access different rooms efficiently.


As the floor plan was given, another task given was to plan the furniture for the new community centre. Factors that were constantly considered were wayfinding, circulation paths, and maximum occupancy. This resulted in exploring different types of modular furniture that allowed for different plans.

WILDROSE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The outcome of the planning resulted in a floor plan that provided convenient distance from each classroom, with a central lobby that allowed easy access to many areas. As the project progressed, the finalized floor plan was given. The new task was to use the finish choices to create wayfinding and identification of the areas in the community centre.

A consistent challenge that was faced was security within the community centre. The main source of security would be controlled through the receptionist. Many ideas were considered, such as security grilles or gates controlled by the receptionist. The plan was finalized with a security grille stored in a thicker wall. Seating was also a challenge, as central seating created potential problems with circulation paths. The final floorplan was created using AutoCAD and rendered using Photoshop.


WILDROSE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The process of hand drawing the images has progressed to hand renders. The drawings were guided by using Sketchup to capture the image and importing to AutoCAD to control lineweight and size of the print to help draw the perspective.

This project was also revisited to turn the design solution and create construction drawings and further explain aspects like custom millwork, door and frame constructions, and sections and details of the reception desk. These drawings were developed using AutoCAD

X BANK RENDERING

The focus of this project was to take an existing floorplan given and create a 3D model and choose the finishings and furnishings of the bank. Another focus of this project was to focus on editing light into the renders. Sketchup was used to create the model and apply the finishes, and Photoshop was used to edit the renders.


STOLLERY AMBULATORY CLINIC

The focus of the project was to create a design solution to an existing space from another wing of the Stollery Childrens’ Hospital in which the wing was relocated to another area for the Ambulatory Clinic. This was a group project, consisting of 3 other members. Shown is my ideation of growth and earthy, shown in a mood board to present. Thumbnail drawings of the consultation room are shown as well.


STOLLERY AMBULATORY CLINIC

My role was to create a design for the consultation room, from a floorplan that was created together. The drawings of the elevations shown further progressed into a clean, simple look with a bulkhead and decals to keep the triangular shapes used throughout the clinic. Sketchup was used to create the model and render, and Photoshop was used to further render the model.

XACTLY ADVERTISING

The objective of the project was to design a new office space for an up and coming advertising firm. It was imperative that a modern aspect that appealed to trendy clientele was integrated in the design. The floor plan was created with the intention of the roles of the firm and their interaction with each other. The progression of creating the floor plan shows from the loose plan and integrating circulation, space requirements and an understanding of the roles of the company, and what spaces are open versus private. This resulted in a floor plan that integrates the users of the space and their spaces that allow maximum productivity when in the office. This floor plan was created and rendered using Revit.

Above is the final elevation for the corridor of the office. Shown to the right is one of the small meeting spaces allowing for collaboration. Both were rendered using Revit and further refined using Photoshop

ONE AND ONLY RETAIL KIOSK


Challenges we faced were integrating signage that didn’t exceed the spatial requirements, as well as integrating necessary equipment for a custom engraving business. The plans, and sections were set up using Revit

ONE AND ONLY RETAIL KIOSK

The focus of this project was to analyze the Kiosk requirements of the Crossiron Mills Mall in Calgary and create a kiosk design for an up and coming custom engraving company. This was a group project, and with one project partner, we created the design. My involvement with the project was creating the physical model, annotating the floor plan and sections, furnishing the kiosk and to render the perspectives. The renders were created using Revit and refined using Photoshop.


GERMAN ENGINEERING

The focus of this project was to learn about space planning of offices. The scenario was the company German Engineering moving into a new building, and the task was to develop a design solution that allowed more open spaces to eliminate segregation between the divisions of the company and allow for more collaborative work between adjacent departments in the new space. Research and planning consisted of analyzing the “Teak Building” floor plan and analyzing lease lines, and configuring usable space to maximize the space for German Engineering with growth of the company in mind. The final results on the right shows the company laid out on the 8th, 9th and 10th floor.

MISCELLANEOUS

This is a project done during my work week placement. The task was to use inspiration pictures to design a porch to redo for a client. Other tasks included during the week was taking hand drawn construction sets and converting them into AutoCAD.


MISCELLANEOUS

The scope of the project was to learn about Revit through creating different aspects of the building, such as feature walls, custom millwork and many types of ceilings in Revit. The renders from Revit were then refined using photoshop.
