Sculpture Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork created by shaping or combining hard materials typically stone such as marble or metal, glass, or wood. Softer ("plastic") materials can also be used, such as clay, textiles, plastics, polymers and softer metals. The term has been extended to works including sound, text and light.!

Sculpture is created in four basic ways: •  Casting •  Carving •  Construction •  Modeling

Casting: a mold is used to form molten bronze(or other material) into a desired shape.

Subtractive process: material is removed - mainly wood and stone

Construction: welding, gluing, nailing materials together.

Modeling: Additive process: material is added Clay, wax, plaster, papermache

3 Dimensional Miniatures Assessment Criteria: • 3-5 Idea Sketches in your sketchbook • The product should be small: approximately the size of a small post-it cubed • The finished product should show the true 3 dimensional form of the subject, not squashed or flat (You are building and forming with clay, not drawing with clay.)
