Hen Coleman’s work contrasts the abundance of nature with the carefully measured environment of ideas to depict a dynamic third territory. Throughout her practice, the use of certain repeated motifs and marks hints at the examination of nature in detail.

This specially commissioned etching, produced in the RA Schools, depicts a layered natural form in a transformed state. Using chine-collé, a collage technique which uses thin pieces of Japanese paper, Coleman adds a further subtle dimension to the monochrome palette of the print.
