The Creative Brief To hand-render a quote out of typography, using a sans-serif, a serif and a script typeface for the Type Triahtlon contest held by Joshua Phillips.
My Response I wanted to work with a quote that wasn't too long or short and reflected upon my design practise At the time of the brief, I had a lot of work on, so chose this quote as a form of inspiration, to encourage me to do well and work for the deadline. The fonts that I drew were inspired by fonts that I found online, but twisted slightly to suit my own aesthetic choices. This design was then traced over on Illustrator and placed on top of a photograph of factory workers in the 50's, as I thought that this would be a suitable background for the quote.
Who am I? Born and raised in the beautiful Cotswold countryside 20 years ago, I migrated to Leeds to study Graphic Design at Leeds College of Art in September 2012.

What do I do? // Sign Painting & Lettering
I have always had a keen interest within hand-rendered typography and lettering. Recently, my interests have become further focussed on these skills and how they can be translated into Sign Painting.
What do I do? // Craft Skills
Being a design student, I have the opportunities to experiment with a wide variety of different craft and design skills. These skills are reflected through my "hands-on" approach to designing, which you can see through the quilling techniques used to produce this product poster for The Body Shop.
The Creative Brief To produce a brand identity for Frydays Fish & Chip Shop in Newquay. The colours used will need to suit the interior of the Fish & Chip shop (red, black and white).
My Response Originally, the client asked for a logo and a menu to be designed for their Fish & Chip Shop, but I decided to take this identity further to show them how it could look if they produced business cards, window stickers, food bags, etc. I decided to work with an American Diner-esque aesthetic, whilst keeping it nautical to reflect on the idea of the Fish & Chip shop being based at the seaside in Newquay. For the menu, I created illustrations of what you could find at the seaside - whales, waves and lighthouses.
The Creative Brief To produce 4 product posters for The Body Shop, reflecting on their current brand aesthetics, as well as promoting their products in an inventive and friendly way.
My Response I collaborated on this brief with James (another student on my course). We both produced 2 posters each, using quilling. Quilling is the process of sticking 5cm wide strips of paper onto a surface in curves, spirals and circles to create a unique 3D design. Quilling the 4 posters took over 40 hours in total! These quilled posters were then photographed and more information (logo and product text) was added to the poster using Photoshop. What do I do? // Branding
I have been lucky enough to work with clients on branding their businesses. Using my knowledge of branding that I have developed at uni, as well as my illustrative style, I have managed to produce branding that reflects my work ethos, rather than creating something that I won't want to show off.
