Routt County United Way
ABOUT
TO OUR COMMUNITY:
Routt County United Way (RCUW) advances the common good in Routt County by providing access to education, financial stability, and health. We focus on three goals to make the greatest impact in our community: early childhood education, youth success, and financial stability. We mobilize change by uniting people, ideas, and resources that play a critical role in creating positive results in Routt County. RCUW is a community builder, leader, unifier, and champion. We partner with over 25 local nonprofits to inspire change in our community.
2020 will forever go down in history as the year of the pandemic. I am proud to say Routt County United Way did not miss an opportunity to help those in need. From providing masks to the Routt County population, serving on the COVID-19 Relief Fund grant committee, and coordinating the human service organizations, we were an integral part of the solutions that unfolded. Our newly comprised internal team revised our programs to better meet the needs of people in our community and the agencies that support them, such as transitioning our main fundraising events and community Thanksgiving dinner to serve people on the go. Routt County United Way emerges into 2021 as a redefined, more efficient, and focused organization to meet the needs of our community in education, financial stability, and health. Join us as we continue to oversee the pulse of human services in Routt County and champion for the people who need us most.
VISION
We envision a county where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through access to education, opportunities to improve financial stability, and support to lead healthy lives. MISSION
Our mission is to unite people, ideas, and resources to advance the common good in education, financial stability, and health.
Kate Nowak Executive Director

Early literacy development is important for a life of success. Preschools provide critical childcare and education for children of working parents from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing families to work towards self-sufficiency. Tuition assistance provides children with the opportunity to gain social, emotional, and literacy skills before kindergarten. We also funded the Newborn Network program that enhances parent-to-parent networking and assists parents in advancing their child's development.

$38,550
An important component of becoming financially stable is having necessities in the house, including food. We supported three local food banks through LiftUp to ensure there was a high-quality and quantity food supply to support those in need. We believe in collaboration, so we partnered with the Department of Human Services and LiftUp to create Routt to Success, a program dedicated to educating and engaging individuals working on achieving goals of personal well-being through educational opportunities and coaching from local banks. We also funded Meals on Wheels, a program made possible by Routt County Council on Aging, providing fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout Routt County.

ROUTT COUNTY CHILDREN ENROLLED IN 2020
The Imagination Library is an early literacy program introduced to Routt County by Routt County United Way’s leadership giving affinity group, Women United. The program is available to all Routt County children who are currently between the ages of birth to five. Each child will receive an ageappropriate book every month until their fifth birthday. The books are hand-selected by a panel of early literacy professionals as a program of the Dollywood Foundation and include two bilingual titles per year. The Imagination Library provides every Routt County child necessary literacy skills for success. Research shows 66% - 75% of families read more to their children after receiving the Imagination Library books. Most importantly, children develop a lifelong love of learning and reading. The Imagination Library is available to children outside of Routt County through the Book Gift Program. Learn more and enroll at RouttCountyUnitedWay.org. "WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR OUR MONTHLY BOOKS. IT HAS ENCOURAGED US AS A FAMILY TO MAKE TIME TO READ AND TO COLLECT AN ENGAGING HOME LIBRARY. OUR 10 MONTH OLD NOW LOVES TURNING THE PAGES, LOOKING AT THE PICTURES, AND TRYING TO COPY SOUNDS. I DON’T KNOW IF WE WOULD HAVE PRIORITIZED THIS SO EARLY ON IF IT WASN’T FOR IMAGINATION LIBRARY." - ALYSSA & SETH MINOR, ROUTT COUNTY PARENTS
