Rotunda Community College Rotunda Community Panto 2012 Jack & The Radio Tower The Community of Kirkdale does it again! We have had ‘Scrooge’, we have had ‘Cinderfella’ and it’s time for us to have our third community pantomime ‘Jack and the Radio-Tower!’ For the third year running we are celebrating everything that is ‘Beautiful’ in North Liverpool. Rotunda in partnership with the Everyman and Playhouse, VNC, Liverpool Youth and Play Service are showcasing 25 young people from Kirkdale and how wonderfully talented they are! The production will be held at the Silvestrian in Vauxhall on Tuesday 18th of December at 7pm and tickets can be obtained by contacting the director John Whelan at the Rotunda on 0151 207 2176. This is a very popular event and tickets go quickly; so you need to contact sooner rather than later so as not to be disappointed as this is a FREE community pantomime! The project has been made possible with funding received from LHT (Liverpool Housing Trust) Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Youth and Play Service.

Rotunda Community College The youth providers within the Kirkdale Ward work tirelessly all year round in providing activities for and supporting young people. The Kirkdale community has come together once again to showcase what can be achieved through partnership working. “Liverpool Housing Trust are delighted to financially support the pantomime along with Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Youth and Play Service, as it not only gives the community a fantastic free Christmas event, it also supports local young people in developing new skills in all aspects of theatre work” – ‘Julie Mulligan, LHT Regeneration Officer’ Location: Silvestrian - Silvester Street Vauxhall. Time: 7pm For more info Contact: John Whelan on 0151 207 2176 or jwhelan@therotunda.org.uk

Rotunda Community College Project 107: Work Placements at Rotunda conservation site. Rotunda’s Heritage Centre development (107 Great Mersey Street) is well under way and we are currently providing six Liverpool Community College construction students with the opportunity to undertake work placements with our specialist conservation contractor. Placements will each be for 20 days from November 2012 to May 2013. They will contribute towards the students NVQ level 2 qualification in their respective trades, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, brickwork, and plasterwork. The placements are intended to encourage students to take a heritage construction module at level 3 and ultimately to gain the heritage skills that Merseyside is currently short of. If you would like to know more about Rotunda’s Heritage Centre development or would like to get involved please contact: Emma Jensen on 0151 207 2176 ex 107 Email: ejensen@therotunda.org.uk

Rotunda Community College Rotunda’s Alternative Route to Employment Programme – Gets a facelift!

Rotunda Community College Our young people have taken control of their own learning, what they learn and how they learn it has always been decided by them, but now, they have chosen to rename and rebrand the course itself taking real ownership of their education. Arts Awards, NVQ’s Enterprise and Vocational Training opportunities, not to mention access to arts therapist, qualified counsellors and sports activities means Rotunda College has something for everyone. Rotunda also has an Ofsted registered nursery on site, for children aged 1 and over so for any young parents, please keep this in mind as you can learn while they learn.

What most people don’t know is that I have Dyslexia “Dyslexia effects 5 – 10 % of the world’s population and is a very broad term definition of a learning disability that impairs a person’s fluency, comprehension or accuracy in being able to read”. With the help of Rotunda and Liverpool Dyslexia Association I am now able to support others with dyslexia.
