A non-vascular stent is a tube shaped like a blood vessel that is used to open a passage between two hollow spaces in the body. This type of stent is an implantable device made up of materials such as ninitol, cobalt-chromium alloys, and silicone. The stents are designed to maintain the patency of stenotic vessels. Non-vascular stents are used to make a pathway in the body to carry bodily fluid, to enable the transfer of air in obstructed natural circulatory pathways, and to treat palliative-stage cancers, strictures, and other medical conditions. Moreover, they are widely used in oesophageal, colonic, biliary, bronchial, and tracheal implantations.
