RAPTURE READY?: DISPENSATIONAL PREMILLENNIALISM
The Nation of Israel % God has purposed to work with two different groups of people—Israel and the church—in different ways during different “dispensations.” % It is through the modern nation of Israel that God will fulfill his promises of land and blessings to the patriarchs and to the Jewish people.
% God has always had one plan and one people. % All God’s work with the nation of Israel was preparatory for his revelation of himself through Jesus and for his work through the church. % Many persons with a covenantal perspective expect that a great spiritual awakening will bring many Jewish persons to faith in Jesus as their Messiah before the end of time. % God has always had one plan that he has put in place through multiple covenants. % God’s work with Israel was a temporary picture of what he had already purposed to do through Jesus in the new covenant. % Many persons with a new covenantal perspective expect that a great spiritual awakening will bring many Jewish persons to faith in Jesus as their Messiah before the end of time.
The Church % The church is a spiritual work separate from God’s earthly work with the political nation of Israel. % Through this spiritual work, God is bringing Jews and Gentiles into relationship with himself through Jesus. % During the tribulation, God will remove the church from the world and resume his work with the nation of Israel. % Through the church, God is fulfilling the promises that he made to the patriarchs and to the people of Israel. % In the Old Testament and the New, God has had one covenant of grace with every person who trusts Jesus as the Messiah.
% God will fulfill his promises to the patriarchs and to Israel through the one seed of Abraham, Jesus the Messiah. % In the Old Testament and the New, God’s purpose has always been to redeem every person who would trust in the Messiah.
