Roseland Christian School – Home Bulletin

Dear Parents:

Calendar of Events for October

Thank you for raising several questions about the need for, and the amount of, homework assigned at Roseland Christian School. We believe that homework provides the necessary means to reinforce the skills, techniques, and information to which the child is exposed during school hours. Homework can provide the necessary repetition (drill) to promote skill mastery. In addition, it has been shown that distribution of practice periods of virtually any skill yields results superior to massed practice. Grades PreK – Homework is sent home twice a month on Tuesday and must be returned on Friday.

Weekend assignments will consist of projects and/ or a book report. We believe reading for pleasure promotes literacy and fluency. A book report increases writing and comprehension skills. Wednesday night is considered Church Night and we are considerate of parents and students attending Bible Study. Students may have a light assignment or have make-up work that needs to be completed on Wednesday night. I hope this information has answered your question about our homework policy. If you have any questions, please give us a call.
