Marbella and the Costa del Sol have been home to me since 1986 when I moved to Cabopino from the UK with my family. Cabopino really was a “hidden gem” in those days, and all that existed were a couple of bars and restaurants overlooking the marina. It was idyllic and felt like our very own piece of paradise. Fast forward 30 years. Cabopino still retains much of its original charm but now offers a fabulous choice of waterfront restaurants, vibrant bars, a long, sandy beach and a wide selection of superb properties. Cabopino is situated just 10km east of Marbella centre and 39km west of Malaga International Airport and offers visitors over 325 average days of sunshine each year. Small but perfectly formed, Cabopino may not be as well known as its illustrious neighbour, Puerto Banus, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm and relaxation.

Cabopino Beach Surrounded by pine trees, Cabopino beach is backed by natural sand dunes, which make up the only section of the coast not urbanised. The La Cala de Mijas to Cabopino section of the Malaga coastal path is a 6km scenic boardwalk. This beautiful path stops 500m short of Cabopino and then winds its way across the Artola Dunes, a protected, natural monument to the west of the port. Cabopino is well sheltered and protected from the elements, making it child-friendly as it slopes gently into the sea. Artificial reefs on either side of

the beach keep the waves and wind at bay. Enjoy a wide choice of activities from Cabopino Water sports, including fishing trips, dolphin watching, waterskiing, or throw yourself onto the “Flyfish” or “X-treme” if you dare! An old fortified watchtower, Torre Ladrones, stands on the dunes above the beach. From its privileged position, it is possible to see all along the coast to Marbella. At 15 metres high, this is the highest watchtower around the Malaga coastline and was once used to spot enemies approaching the land.

Cabopino Golf Cabopino Golf Course is one of the most picturesque courses on the coast and offers stunning views over the Mediterranean. This challenging 18hole course was designed by Spanish architect, Juan Ligues Creus and opened in 2001. The course is a par 71 and boasts spectacular views to the Mediterranean, lush vegetation and challenging holes. Cabopino Golf is situated just behind the port and offers a golf academy and private lessons to those wanting to improve their game. Cabopino Parking You will find ample parking just before the port. As you drop down from the roundabout near the motorway exit, you will see a turn on the right with a sign for Andy’s Beach Bar. Here you will find plenty of parking behind the dunes. From here, you can walk directly down to the beach or down to the port itself. If you drive down to the port entrance, you will find roadside parking, or you can pay at the barrier to enter the marina (space here is limited in the busier months).

Conveyancing

for Property Purchase Legal representation and assistance is particularly necessary in Spain when purchasing or selling property. The Conveyancing process in Spain involves different degrees of participation by various parties: the seller, their legal representative, the real estate agent, the accountant, a notary public, the registrar, utilities companies, the town hall of the municipality where the purchase is being made, banks, and in some cases the local courts, regional authorities and even the seller’s neighbour (they may even have something to say). The lawyer will ensure that all parties are appropriately co-ordinated and followed-up with and will perform an investigation to ensure that the property is purchased without any previous charge or liability that could incur additional costs or reduce the property’s value.
