“ Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home. We saw that it is a place where love reigns. Modesther, Mom of Amarachi (11)

Dear Friends

of the Ronald McDonald House

Keeping Families Close for Years to Come Each day at the Ronald McDonald House we have the privilege of meeting families who have come to Rochester to seek medical care for their ill children. When many of these families arrive at our House, they’re facing some of the longest and hardest days of their lives. During an uncertain time, the families we serve can be certain of one thing – the Ronald McDonald House will keep their family close. When families check-in to the House they are offered support from other families facing similar journeys and relief knowing they are just steps away from their child’s bedside and medical team at Mayo Clinic. In 2015, the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, MN kept 863 families close when they needed it most. Families visited from nearly every state and from 16 countries. It was our distinct honor to serve every family who called the Ronald McDonald House their home-away-from-home this past year. The need for our care and support exceeds our current capacity. In 2015, 1,081 families were unable to stay with us because when they called, we had no rooms available. It is indeed heartbreaking to tell a family we don’t have a room for them. It is because of this capacity constraint that our Board of Trustees, staff team and community of supporters are working diligently to expand our mission. In 2015, we made significant progress towards an expanded Ronald McDonald House by acquiring adjacent property, working on building designs and seeking financial support. Though much work is yet to be done, we look forward to keeping even more families close to their loved ones in the years to come. Sincerely,

Robert Benner, Board President

Peggy Elliott, Executive Director

Donor Impact Wally and Peg Arnold

Wally and I have a very strong family – we support each other through thick and thin. We’ve been very lucky to have healthy children and grandchildren. We can’t imagine having to go through a medical crisis and not having family near. We believe the focus for families at the Ronald McDonald Peg and Wally Arnold at their NE Rochester store, A Child’s Kingdom House should be on the needs of their sick child and they shouldn’t have to worry about housing or meals. We truly believe in the mission of the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, MN: to provide a home-away-from-home and caring support to families seeking medical care for their children. That mission struck a chord with us. And although we can’t give back as much as we’d like on a personal level, we are able to use the Scheels Med City Marathon, which we run and organize, as a way to give. We are thrilled that the Scheels Med City Marathon’s spring events now include a Ronald McDonald House Family Walk. And this holiday season, our first-ever Santas on the Run event supported the House by partnering with our other business, A Child’s Kingdom toy store. Participants of Santas on the Run donated over $2,000 in toys to Ronald McDonald House families last holiday season.

We look forward to supporting and working with the House in 2016 and beyond! – Wally and Peg Arnold
