Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.
his year has been a year of trials and blessings for the Michigan Markham family. Our trials seem to always result in road trips, nine in all – two to Savannah, three to Virginia, one to Buffalo, two to Chicago, and one to Miami, plus four trips to China. We have logged over 9,500 miles behind the wheel and 80,000 miles in an airplane. We are hoping for less travel in 2011. Here is a look at 2010. Lee is Baptized. On June 13th , Lee declares that Jesus is Lord.. After a life changing battle in Afghanistan, Lee realized that we need to put God in control of our lives. Lee returned to the USA, and started studying God’s word in earnest. Lee’s strong desire to know God, together with his hunger and thirst for righteousness, culminated in the event of his life. We were proud to travel to Savannah to share in Lee’s Bible studies, and to witness that glorious day. In 2010, Lee also entered two bodybuilding competitions, and took third place in both. Lee has finished his service to his country and is now on inactive reserve. Lee has graduated college with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, has taken his GMATS, and is now enrolled to earn a Masters Degree in Strategic Business Management. Lee is the reason the boys are doing so well. Lee spends most of his day with the boys, and is having a huge impact.
Luke is Baptized. On October 24th, Luke declares that Jesus is Lord Luke had another surgery on his shoulder this year. Luke and Bekah had some serious marital challenges which ended up in separation. As Nancy, Lee, and I can testify, God gets our attention when we reach the bottom, where we decide to either turn to him, or be destroyed by worldly desires. We were so proud to travel to Virginia and study God’s word with Luke and witness that magnificent day. Luke’s new life inspired Bekah to return and she is now studying the Bible with Luke. Luke moved into a new home in Fort Belvoir, and is still serving his country in the Army.
Laura: Laura is still pursuing a career in entertainment. She has auditioned for roles in movies being filmed here on Grand Rapids. (Ben Stiller is also making a film in Grand Rapids). Jeremy and Jason: Jeremy is in kindergarten, and Jason is in pre-school. They are both talking now. Every sentence starts with “Uncle Lee”. Their vocabulary improves daily. They are swimming, playing soccer, basketball, and this year baseball. Nancy and Ron are working to glorify God. We had our 30th anniversary last March and spend three wonderful days in Charlevoix, We are so glad to have friends like Pam and Oommen, Fred and Angela, Otha and Cynthia, Hal and Doureen, Kelly and James, Farhod, Mike, Dave……… the list goes on and on. We have all been working together to raise up the church in Grand Rapids. Oommen and Pam moved from Chicago to lead the church. They are making a tremendous difference. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Cor 3:17-18
