HOUSE FOR ARTIST Jeff Wall house Ljubljana, Slovenia studio project 13/14

HOUSE FOR ARTIST

Jeff Wall house

The dwelling house is intended for Canadian photographer Jeff Wall. He is known for his large format photos, which he exhibits in socalled light boxes. In his work, he refers to his philosophy “there is no outside”. Site is located in the very center of Ljubljana. For the concept of the apartment house I referred to ‘’ there is no outside ‘’. In this context, I wanted to create a feeling that nothing is outside of the house, in fact, everything happens inside. So I formed living spaces which are opened to atrium on one side and private garden on other side. The dwelling house consists of several c - elements, more precisely three, which, according to their purpose, are different volumes. They are divided into an entrance space, living space and sleeping space. Entrance is slightly longer and narrower, as only service spaces occur in it. There is a living room that is divided into a kitchen and a space for talking and leasure activities. This one of the three is the largest. Then there is the lowest and the most private one - sleeping part.

Representative Mura factory is located on the east side of the city, in an industrial part along the railway. The clothing factory Mura is a recognized brand of clothing, and it also represented the great economic power of Murska Sobota and its hinterland, which employed a large number of people and is still extremely important today. Asthe analyses show, the Mura area is inaccessible to the masses of people. It turned out that the area opened to the general public, arranged a space intended for visitors, as well as placed in the area of the former factory museum and a representative manufacture. The project is based on the renovation of the building of the Mura industrial plant, built in the 70s. The concept of renovation adheres to the principle that the new placement of the program in the building does not interfere with the construction of the building and is adapted and subordinated to it. Inside the building there are arranged wooden cubes, which are structurally independent. I placed them in supplementary programs of manufactories, shops and museums.

SUBCONSCIOUS Antichrist | Lars von Tier | 2009 workshop 16/17

S UNBACSOLOV N S CPI R OO U JSE K TA

Antichrist | Lars von Tier |opis 2009 projekta

The theme of the workshop was to create a light body based on the scenes of a particular movie. I was assigned the work of Lars Von Tier, Antichrist, 2009. In the work I’ve done are embedded the emotions, insights and feelings I have experienced while watching the scene. I wanted to portray the psychological side of the protagonist. Her subconscious, which is slowly falling apart and rotting. The motif of the light is protagonist herself, her life. When she is walking through the woods symbolises, her walk through her subconscious. With observing her during her walk, we discover that her subconscious is dying, rotting and full of dark. There is no light, which would guide her, on the other hand she herself is the light. My intention was to create the work, which would reflects the subconscious of protagonist. The observer would, by looking at it, feel the burden of life.

Subconscious. You observe it. You are affraid what to expect.Wait! In placid silence she walks through the woods. No life, everything rots and decays. Woods are her subconscious. She rots and decays. The dark protects her, to obstruct the wounds, to obstract the pus. She glows because she lives. The light exposes the wounds. The light is unexpected guest, it is not welcomed. The dark supplants the light. It becomes even harder. You feel the pressure. You are affraid of what to expect. You acknowledge that it decays. You acknowledge that she decays. You feel the burden of life. 24

S Q U A R E R E V I TA L I Z AT I O N city center square

Republic square is located in the city center of Trbovlje. In the city’s past, the market was attractive, enticing, full of people and events. Over time, with an unreasonably temporary construction it lost his qualities and became a place that is not designed for citizens. With the construction of commerical pavilion the statue in central park has been closed. Square become one big parking space for cars and concurrent public space lost its value and purpose. The goal is to create a breathing space that is open and full of greenery. With its ambience, it attracts people and it would attract like in the past, citizens. So, the desire is to create a space of different ambiences that invite people and to create some kind of “living room of the city. _concept

_site

In this way, the construction of market pavilion is removed and moved to the other parts of the city. There are 3 new pavilions that are dispersed across the whole market. Those are programmatically different in one information center, bus station and coffee shop. The whole market is then covered as an idea of a shared roof, creating a sinuous space that has many qualities and creates various microambiences that attract people.

Rehabilitation prison is institution where people who are imprisoned up learn every single day. They rehabilitate, learn usefull skills and get new experiences. The concept of prison is that the time they serve their sentance is not (wasted) it is well spend to reconstitute their behaviour. It is important to understand that prison as institution is vital to rehabilitate, reconstruct and reintegrate people back in society. Design of the rehabilitation prison is based on three main programs – SOCIAL WORK, MANUAL LABOUR AND EDUCATION (As we can see in theory diagrams tendency is oriented in social interactions and independant interest activity). As one individualy is situated in his own block and placed on location. As sideline programme beetween them are prison cells separeted in three different departments. Prison cells are designed in human scale to reconstruct terraced housing. Each one is facing south with intention of getting enough sunlight during the day and also has its own entrance to atrium.
