ves Rogz LoW the orld!
- it was rogzAlicious, baby! ROGZ geared up for Interzoo 2016 with months of planning. A full ROGZ team effort ensured that our ROGZ Booth functioned at it’s best, and our Salesterz were equipped with every possible tool to promote our Brand most effectively. Our Marketing team in particular was involved in the important upfront first impression but from Operations, to Finance, to NPD - everyone played a role, and a BIG THANK YOU to all involved!
The total ROGZ experience is historically cemented at trade fairs. Everyone wants to be a part of building a great Brand - from Distributors to Suppliers. ROGZ differentiates itself by being an authentic, original, credible lifestyle Brand across a spectrum of product categories. Most importantly, the ROGZ brand has always represented a licence to have FUN to all parties involved. Our participation and involvement at Interzoo 2016 ensured this experience.
Our team of 10 Roggerz from RWHQ winged their way to Germany in May, loaded with a full package of Marketing material and plenty of ROGZ Mojo (let’s not mention suitcases filled with various Awesome Powers outfits!). Awaiting them at the Booth was the container of fabulous ROGZ products ready to be set up. From our famous Grinz balls, to the brand new Yumz, it was a yummy smorgasbord of offerings ready to be displayed.
4 5 The 2016 Fancy Dress offering was elegantly displayed in our three new designs on their own special wall to be admired. All our Marketing material - from the Hotoff-the-Press new 2016 Main Catalogue, Product brochures, ROGZ News and Brand Manual - were available at the bar counter to proudly promote our full ROGZ offering to drool over, whilst audiovisuals played our Roovies continuously on TV screens. And of course, we have to mention the now famous ROGZ Interzoo Party which was attended by Roggerz on the Friday
6 For the first time, ROGZ was invited to showcase our new products in a special New Products section at the front of the Trade Show. This was important to be seen as an innovative Brand. Our Booth also displayed our products differently this year. We decided to display all our products in our 5 Rogzalicious colours and this proved to be very effective! We actively focused on our famous Grinz Ball and designed a Grinz World Wall to create a global vision of how our product is loved all around the world.
night. Our theme: ROGZ Awesome Powers was thoroughly enjoyed and yet again our colours were very much in the spotlight. The party was not just about partying (well, ok, a little bit). It was also a great opportunity to rekindle relationships, share previous ROGZ memories (there were lots!), brainstorm some new ideas, and just enjoy a shared love of our wonderful Brand. There were awards handed out and congratulations to everyone who has helped make our ROGZ Brand a household name everywhere in the world.

happy 21st birthday, ROGZ! On 1 June 2016, ROGZ celebrated t u r n i n g 21 with festivities at RWHQ.
It was a special, emotional occasion, beginning with a welcome march and singing by The Engine Room to our two directors Paul and IrenĂŠ at RWHQ1, to eating yummy Rogzalicious cupcakes and speeches, and tears (happy ones). The festivities were captured on camera and uploaded immediately onto our Facebook page where it streamed

thanks from PET TIPS: with Selena from RPI Many pet owners may have heard the term bilary being used by their vets but few know exactly what this means. Biliary is a condition which is also known as tick fever or ‘Bosluiskoors’ and is caused by a microscopic protozoan parasite called Babesia canis. It is one of the most common diseases vets see, especially in spring and summer. The major tick species that spreads biliary is the yellow dog tick. Male ticks are brown in colour whereas the female ticks are a darker grey-brown colour. They are carriers of these parasites for their entire lifespan of 1-3 years. The babesia parasites remain in the salivary glands of the tick in this time. It takes about 48 hours of attachment to a dog for a tick to transmit the disease but the adult female tick is the most likely to cause infection. She needs to feed for the longest time to mature her eggs before she lays them, thus increasing the time for infection to occur. Some of her eggs will also already be infected when laid which propagates the disease in future tick generations. Once a dog has been bitten by an infected tick it takes 10-21 days for the disease to show clinical symptoms. This is called the incubation period. The babesia parasites will invade the red blood cells of the dog and then multiply numerous times until the cells bursts. The result of this is that the dog becomes anaemic from the loss of red blood cells. As the dog’s immune system tries to respond to the infection a fever
will occur – it is often at this time that the dog’s appetite diminishes and he or she may start vomiting and become lethargic. As the infection and anaemia worsen, the dog’s gums become pale and may also be yellow tinged – this is called icterus. There may be difficult breathing and sometimes the urine may be red or brown coloured. Dogs may die suddenly at this stage. If the disease is allowed to progress without treatment,, dogs may develop severe respiratory distress where fluid build up in the lung tissue prevents oxygen exchange. The kidneys can go into acute renal failure where they do not function to produce sufficient urine. Complications involving destruction of healthy red blood cells and platelets may further worsen the prognosis and make therapy more difficult. Brain swelling and damage can occur from poor oxygenation and this may result in behavioural changes, seizures, coma and death. Most often dogs die from multiple organ dysfunction and failure. Treatment It is absolutely important that any time a dog is suspected of having biliary that you seek veterinary help immediately. A vet will perform a clinical examination which includes having the temperature taken and the heart and lungs being auscultated with a stethoscope. A blood smear will be made from a needle prick to the ear. It is only on a blood smear that biliary is diagnosed.
Treatment cannot be done without this important step. Once biliary has been diagnosed an injection will be given which will kill the babesia parasites. If the infection is detected early treatment may only require this injection. Sometimes a special food and a liver tonic may also be prescribed. In more severe cases hospitalisation and a blood transfusion often becomes necessary. This is especially important in dogs that are very anaemic and collapsed. It is at this stage that the most severe complications can occur and vets will try to prevent these with intravenous fluids and medications like anti-nausea injections and cortisone. It is best to prevent this disease through adequate tick control. This means using quality products as per their instructions as well as checking your pet’s coat daily for ticks, especially after walks in the veld. This all helps prevent your special friend from getting the disease. For insurance against medical costs, go to RPI: https://insurance.rogz.com or call 0860 00 ROGZ / 7649.

made a positive choice to make a real difference. She has been reading twice a week with Sibo for over a year as part of the Books & Beyond team. She changed Sibo’s future for the better in a real way.
The good news is that what started as a group of 4 volunteer moms in 2014, has now grown to 17 real people that are reading twice a week with real learners just like Sibo, improving their reading by an average of 10%.
the Even better news
is that what started out as a literacy programme has rapidly escalated to other programmes including: Enabling 6 real young volunteers to be actively involved with additional literacy and numeracy programmes every day after school Getting a previously unused library into a real functional state again Supporting a feeding programme for 100
real hungry children
Assisting with set-up and maintenance of a

is that there are 1 515 learners just like Sibo at Sophakama. We still need to do so much more! Our goal is to achieve real sustainable change at Sophakama to create a wellperforming school, with committed staff, that offers Sibo and the other real learners a learning environment. We have accomplished all this so far on the goodwill of volunteers and donations. We want to develop teachers and bring the newly available resources into the classrooms. We believe that individual efforts by real people can make a difference and change schools. join us in this quest!
