What is Happiness November 28, 2012 | Last Updated on Friday, 17 May, 2013 16:14 I was asked “What is Happiness?” and I answered to the best of my ability at the time. My first answer was “I don’t know”, my second was “Peace”. Both of these are only part of what I meant. To me, happiness is a concept. It is best expressed through a quote from “Fight Club” by Chuck Palahniuk, “No fear. No distractions. The ability to let that which does not matter truly slide.” It’s that moment after you think of the consequences of your actions and you accept them and go through with it. It’s clarity. It’s acceptance. It’s making peace with yourself and your actions and consequences. It’s being in perfect harmony with your own self and being true to who you really are. It’s being okay with not knowing what is going to happen. It’s being alone and being okay with that because at the same time, you’re a part of something larger. Escaping Reality That’s why I escape from reality. Because while I am gone, I can let everything else go. When I’m not here, for me, nothing here matters and in that I find bliss. When my mind is free from restraint, from the clutter of everyday life, from myself and everyone around me, I am at peace. In that moment I am at one with everything and everything is one with me. Finding the Right Words I use these words because they are all I have. Except in life, happiness isn’t something that can be truly spoken or defined. It’s what you see in the eyes of a child when you return after an absence. A child’s innocence is one thing that exudes happiness. If a child cannot make you happy then you may have a serious spiritual malady. My childhood was happy for the most part. I did experience a few traumas; after going through Lifescape Solutions, I have learned how to recover from a hopeless state of mind and is how I become happy. If you agree with something written here, great. If you think I’m so far off base and am completely wrong, good for you. Only you can decide what happiness is to you. Happiness is all about perception and once you become spiritually fit your physical and mental illnesses will straighten out.
