Dear Students and Parents, Once again, we have an extensive range of creative and cultural events designed to complement your classroom experience with some wider educational and social opportunities. A number of the events have a cost element taking into account, where applicable, the price of an entry ticket or fee, transport, and a packed meal. As a matter of course we advise your parents/guardians of any trip or activity that costs £8 and over. These require their approval beforehand. Once your parents’/guardians’ approval has been given, you committed to the trip or activity and you the cost will normally still have to be paid, even if you decide you do not wish to go. Places on many of the trips are limited so ask your parents to submit the WuFoo form as soon as possible to ensure the best chance of securing a place for you. Horse Riding A fantastic chance to get into the saddle at the weekends at one of the best equestrian facilities in Sussex. Contact the PE Department

Recreational Swimming Put on your swimsuit and have a swim at your own pace with friends. Check noticeboards for session times. All sessions are staffed by a lifeguard.

Shopping There are opportunities every Saturday for girls in Years 7, 8 & 9 to enjoy Brighton’s and Sussex’s shopping centres and The Lanes. A school minibus will take girls accompanied by staff, to and from the town centre.


LASER Zone Party Friday 12th January Time: 17:15-20:30

Take part in a life drawing workshop with a model. The price includes 5 hours of tuition from an expert life drawing tutor, as well as a professional life model. This activity is open to anyone over 16 who is interested in improving on this aspect of their art. Places are limited, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.

Enjoy exhilarating driving speeds at this indoor Go Karting track. You will get fully kitted out and briefed before having two separate timed laps. Race against your friends’ times, or just see if you can beat your own personal best. A great fun day out.

Westfield Shopping Centre in London’s Shepherd’s Bush is a haven of luxury and high street shops and excellent food outlets. You will have the day to explore, shop and eat at this iconic London mall.

Wicked The Musical Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz Time: 16:45–23:30 University. Raystede are passionate about looking after animals. Roedean has joined with them to create a hands-on animal welfare experience, where you will get to spend time looking after the animals, learning about how to care for them, and even get to create a keepsake to remind you of your day. Places are limited so sign up quickly to secure your vet-for-the-day experience.

The Great Roedean Bake Off Saturday 24th February Time: Approx 18:30-21:30 depending on baking times Cost: ÂŁ5 Where: House ODRs, Roedean Website:

Participate in this interhouse baking competition. Your ÂŁ5 enters you in the competition and contributes to the ingredients. After supper, competitors from each house will go back to their ODRs and bake their chosen product. Judges from the catering and teaching departments will decide the winners of the grand prize and coveted title!

Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based children’s charity, which has been supporting sick children for over 50 years. Roedean has teamed up with Rockinghorse to provide an opportunity for Roedean students to hand out t-shirts, water and energy bars at the end of the Brighton Half Marathon, raising awareness for the charity and supporting all the runners.

If you have ever wanted to learn to snowboard, now is your opportunity. We are offering a beginners’ session on Knockhatch’s excellent dry slopes. After snowboarding, we will return to Roedean for a takeaway pizza and a catch up on our amazing experience. Places limited—book soon!

Learn how to prepare and cook the centre piece of any student weekend: a Sunday Roast! Brighton Cookery School’s expert chefs will take you through all the steps. Options will include dishes to suit all dietary requirements. After cooking your meal, you will be able to sit together and enjoy the fruits of your labours in Keswick Dining Room. Priority will be given to Y12 and Y13.

Make the most of the return of Spring with an exciting game of volleyball down on Brighton’s seafront. Yellowave’s volleyball courts are on sand, have beautiful views of the sea, and are floodlit when it gets dark. So get involved in some friendly competition, and enjoy the view!
