An additional fee of £1,100 per term is made in respect of boarders entering the Sixth Form directly. Day Girls

Terms and Conditions Payment of Fees Payment of Fees is in full by the first day of term. Fee accounts are prepared at the end of each term for payment by the start of the following term by bank transfer or by cheque direct to the School.

Pre-paid (Composition) Fees Scheme The School operates a Pre-paid (Composition) Fees Scheme, by which parents can pay a lump sum in advance for the School fees (minimum two years) thereby receiving a discount. A quote can be obtained from the Finance Bursar (dab@roedean.co.uk).

Increase of Fees The School will give parents one term’s notice of fee increases; however, under some circumstances it may be necessary to review fees at other times. Should a parent or guardian wish to withdraw a pupil as a result of such an increase, a term’s notice must still be given.

Overdue Fees A surcharge will be made on accounts not received by the first day of each term. The current rate of surcharge is Bank Base Rate plus 4%. We will also recover any administrative fees associated with any debt and pass on the costs of any debt recovery agents that we may instruct.

Registration Fee £150 is payable with the application, and is non-refundable.

www.roedean.co.uk

All deposits are refunded (without interest) after the pupil has left the School and after all fees and ‘extras’ have been settled. If the pupil does not take up the accepted place, the deposit is non-refundable.

Per Term

Upper 3 (Year 7) to Lower 4 (Year 8)

04

For parents living or working outside the UK, a deposit of one term’s fee is paid to accept the offer at Roedean.

Bank details NatWest Bank plc, Castle Square, Brighton BN1 1ES The sort code is 60 30 09; the account number is 53541243. IBAN BIC: NWBKGB2L; IBAN: GB46NWBK60300953541243

Charges for Extra Subjects/Activities Written permission of the parent or guardian is required before a pupil can be accepted for tuition in an extra subject/activity. Since payment has to be made to the teachers concerned, subjects/activities may only be terminated at the end of the term, for which half of one term’s notice in writing is required. If a subject/activity is discontinued during a term, the whole of that term’s charge will be payable. Full details of subjects/activities offered are published separately. Where pupils require private academic coaching, this is a matter for separate written contract between the parents and the School.

Notice of Withdrawal Once a place in the School has been accepted, at least one full term’s notice of withdrawal of a pupil must be given to the Headmistress in writing, irrespective of whether the pupil has joined the School or not. If the required notice is not given, fees for the next term will be charged. Requests for changes of status from day to boarding or vice versa also require a full term’s notice.

Awards Scholarships 1. Scholarships

5. FCO, Forces and Clergy families

The award of a scholarship at Roedean means that that the school has acknowledged a high level of previous achievement and identified potential for further successful development.

Daughters of permanent employees of the Diplomatic Corps, the Clergy or serving members of the Armed Forces will receive a 10% reduction on boarding fees.

We do not want our scholars to feel that they must always achieve full marks, but we do expect them to try their best and enthusiastically participate in all aspects of school life.

6. Sibling awards

Junior scholarships (entry into years 7 and 9) Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Sport scholarships have a value of 10% of day or boarding fees.

A 5% discount will be applied to the fees of the younger daughters where parents who have two or more children in the School at any one time. Further details, relevant forms and scales of assessable income are available from the Admissions Office (admissions@roedean.co.uk).

A Headmistress’ Award may also be awarded at the discretion of the Headmistress. The decision is based on the test results, interview and school reference. Sixth Form scholarships Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Sport scholarships have a value of 10% of day or boarding fees.

2. Brighthelm Awards Brighthelm Awards enable exceptionally talented local pupils (living within 20 miles of Brighton) to attend Roedean on a fully funded place. There are only three Brighthelm students in the school at any one time, so it is an extremely prestigious award. The next Brighthelm Awards will be available for entry into Year 7 in 2012 and 2014.

3. Bursaries Roedean offers means-tested bursaries on a case by case basis to those who meet the general academic entry requirements. There are also specific awards available to daughters of the clergy of the Church of England or the Anglican Communion, and daughters of serving, retired or deceased members of HM Armed Forces.

4. Old Roedeanian awards Daughters of Old Roedeanians or St Mary’s Hall alumnae will receive a 5% reduction on day or boarding fees.

Admissions process Admissions process 2011 The admissions process may seem long and daunting, but we have a great Admissions Team who will be happy to support you and your daughter all the way through.

5. We also ask applicants to come for an interview with the Headmistress, which can take place either on the same day as testing, or another day if more convenient.

1. Read the prospectus and www.roedean.co.uk to find all the facts you need to decide whether Roedean is the right place for your daughter.

6. Congratulations! Once you have been offered a place at Roedean, you have four weeks to accept it by paying a deposit (half a term’s fee, or a whole term if you are living outside the UK). We can then send joining instructions and a CAS number if your daughter needs a student visa.

2. If so, complete the registration form opposite and send with the supporting documents and registration fee. 3. Come and see the school if you haven’t done so already. Choose either an Open Day or an individual visit at a time to suit you. Generally speaking we recommend making an individual visit during term time as it is the best time to see the school in action, meet key members of staff and, most importantly, see our pupils. Your daughter may also like to come to a Taster Day to meet some of her prospective classmates. It can help for pupils to meet each other before the term begins and many girls swap addresses and stay in touch throughout the holidays. 4. Obviously it’s important to make sure that our curriculum will suit your daughter. For the entrance exam, applicants can choose either Roedean’s own entry papers (which are offered on a rolling schedule), or the Common Entrance. Roedean’s three papers are English, Maths or Liberal Arts and NonVerbal Reasoning. Each academic paper lasts an hour.
