SHORT WORKSHOPS – SUSTAINABILITY
SEED:THE UNTOLD STORY 2 7 T H O N LY The multi-award winning SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.
PLANNING A SUSTAINABLE SEED GARDEN 2 7 T H O N LY Working alongside Roedean’s grounds team, pupils will learn about the microclimate at Roedean and discover what potential there is for creating a sustainable seed garden at Roedean. They will learn what needs to be considered in terms of location, climate and environmental factors. After lunch, pupils will work in groups to produce a viable plan for a sustainable seed garden, including location, plants and a session plan for HHH or a co-curricular activity. The winning group may see their plans being put into action next academic year.
