Academic Name: Esme Year: 11 Anne Harris Scholar Roedean Moira House Eastbourne
My name is Esme, and I joined Roedean Moira House when I was in Year 9. I chose the school as a place that would give me better opportunities than my previous school, academically and socially. My favourite subjects are Art, Music and English. The teachers are always so supportive, and passionate about the subjects that they are teaching, giving me even more motivation to learn as much as I possibly can, which is what I strive to do. As well as this, I have seen how I have improved vastly in subjects like science and maths, which I struggled with more, and wouldn’t have been able to do this without all of the support I’ve received from my teachers, and amazing friends. I’m an Anne Harris Scholar, with recognition for Performing Arts. There have been many extra-curricular activities that I have been able to take part in due to my scholarship, and the Recycling project that I did as a scholars project allowed me to do a lot of research in ways that I could improve my local community. As well as this, the activities that the school provide have meant that I could take part in clubs that allow me to read things that I otherwise wouldn’t have had an opportunity to, and take part in areas that I haven’t taken as GCSEs. My favourite thing that I have done at Roedean Moira House so far, is just being able to appreciate the difference the school has made to me, and know I have made friends that I am sure I will be able to remain with for a very long time.
