Dermot District Park: River Washout Pod and Humberstone Towers Pod
FEATURE PROJECT:
Dermott District Park – Edmonton, AB This project is more than just a playground – it depicts the destructive and renewing forces of nature. Based on Edmonton’s 1915 flood, the story begins with the Alpine Headwaters, an accessible hill slide and log climber, that leads to the River Washout and Humberstone Towers. The two multi-story towers feature a 2.7 meter slide and are inspired by the historic Humberstone Coal Mines that played a big part in shaping the Edmonton river valley much as the flood did when the river washed it all away. Every project begins with research and consultations to provide clients and users with playful place-making opportunities.

FEATURE PROJECT:
09
Banff North Park – Banff, AB
This play space was designed to incorporate the playground in an elegant and understated, yet impactful way. The feature installation is a stone and stainless steel pipe structure - though not a typical “slide” it encourages sliding movement and makes for a wonderful challenge for players. The project was awarded the 2019 Landscape Award of Excellence. All our projects start out with big dreams drawn on paper and brought into reality through consultation and collaboration.
Owner and designer Duncan O’Nions tests out the feature installation
