A note from our program hosts:

Over the last 40 years, our community and our world have changed a lot. In many ways, thanks to the leadership of strong women. Women have created opportunities and advancements across the world, charged new paths forward personally and for their peers, and broken down walls for so many.

Throughout our whole history, our region has welcomed strong female leaders. From Susan B. Anthony who led the fight for suffrage to Martha Matilda Harper who pioneered the franchise model, women in our community are game changers – no doubt about it. And the ATHENA International Awards celebrate just that: the women who are leading the way in our shared region.

As we gather tonight to celebrate our 40th anniversary ATHENA International Awards in Greater Rochester, NY, it is important to look back and reflect on the progress that has happened and the ways our community is better thanks to all of our honorees. Take Judith Schwab, our first ever ATHENA recipient – as a woman in a corporate engineering environment, she earned her promotions in the more difficult days before the gender barriers began to come down for women at Kodak, as described by the National Academy of Engineering.

And today, our finalists are still breaking into new opportunities and changing the game. But they’re doing so in a world where they can be valued founders, business executives, and welcomed leaders. Each of our 34 finalists for our 2026 ATHENA Awards across all three categories has unequivocally changed the world we live in thanks to their contributions to our economy, their clients and partners, and our whole community. We appreciate the ways they are raising the bar for us all, and are honored to recognize them tonight.

And of course, we would be remiss not to acknowledge the important step you are all playing in this - we cannot create a community like this alone. Thank you to everyone who has joined us this evening to celebrate our outstanding ATHENA Awards finalists. And, thank you to our sponsors and partners for helping to make this possible and investing in women in Greater Rochester.

As much as we’re celebrating our 40th anniversary of ATHENA tonight, we’re also toasting to the promise of 40 more years and beyond that of strong, powerful women leading in Greater Rochester. And we’re proud to be in your company to celebrate.

Greater Rochester Chamber is pleased to bring the 40th Annual ATHENA International Awards program to our region. We gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the ATHENA International Awards program sponsors:

HELEN + GERTRUDE

Becca Post, Founder + CEO

Helen + Gertrude is an award-winning, full-service digital marketing and advertising agency. While data is core to what we do, it is only one part of the human experience. We take a human-centered design approach to our work, from the way we conduct research to how we show up on set.

The left side of the brain is about logic, using facts and problem-solving to act efficiently and effectively. The right side is where creativity, imagination, and innovation thrive. That leaves us wondering, why should advertising be any different? We use data and insights to inform every step of our process. While other agencies take a creative- or media-first approach, we believe neither can succeed without the other. Breaking down these silos allows us to build branded content and campaigns that work harder.

Helen + Gertrude is a certified WBE, WOSB, and DBE, as well as a certified Meta Business Partner, Google Partner, and Workplace Leader in DEI by 540 WMain.

Founded by Becca Post, Helen + Gertrude has evolved from a social-first company into a full-service digital agency grounded in human-centered design. With a background in New Media Design, Becca has built world-class creative teams and led work for brands including Walmart, Starbucks, American Express, GE, and Jose Cuervo.

ATHENA AMBASSADORS

We extend our gratitude to our 2026 ATHENA Award Ambassadors, past recipients and finalists listed below, for their support of this awards program that celebrates and honors women in our region. Their commitment not only empowers women in our community but also inspires future leaders. In this issue, we invite you to learn more about their journeys in being ATHENA™.

HILDA ESCHER

ATHENA Award Recipient 2019

How has being a past ATHENA recipient impacted your personal and professional journey?

Professionally, the ATHENA recognition opened doors that I may not have had access to otherwise. It increased my visibility, expanded my network, and connected me with other leaders who inspired and challenged me. Most of all, it pushed me to keep showing up, giving back, and creating opportunities for others. Personally, it reinforced how important it is for me to be a strong role model, especially for my granddaughter and for young women in the community.

HEIDI MACPHERSON

ATHENA Award Recipient 2020

How has being a past ATHENA recipient impacted your personal and professional journey?

Receiving the award in 2020 was a surprise—in fact, given the list of wonderful, amazing women who were nominated alongside me, I didn’t even write a speech! It came relatively early in my time in Greater Rochester, a place that I now call home. I found that the award opened doors for me—and helped raise the profile of SUNY Brockport as a result. It is the honor that I am most proud of because our region is rich and blessed with so many strong and talented women leaders, from our college and university leaders to leaders in healthcare, the non-profit world and in business. I am so honored to be counted amongst such women.

GERIANNE PUSKAS

ATHENA Award Finalist 2023

How has being a past ATHENA honoree impacted your personal and professional journey?

Being named an ATHENA International finalist in 2023 was the affirmation I needed to make one of the most consequential decisions of my life: leaving my dream job to found Mission Advancement Group. After three decades in nonprofit leadership, I realized that the ATHENA recognition wasn’t just honoring what I had accomplished, but showing me what I could become. I took the entrepreneurial leap with a bold vision: to expand my impact by helping multiple organizations strengthen their missions and serve more people in our community. That risk has been profoundly professionally rewarding. On a personal level, at the ATHENA ceremony, I met that year’s recipient, Miss Julie, and now serve as Vice President of Miss Julie’s School of Beauty Board of Advisors, which is one of several board roles that keep me deeply connected to our community’s most vital work. The ATHENA finalist designation didn’t just validate my past, it helped map out my future and Make Hope Happen.

SHARON NAPIER

ATHENA Award Recipient 2018

How has being a past ATHENA recipient impacted your personal and professional journey?

Being recognized by ATHENA reinforced something I’ve learned over time: leadership is a practice, and it looks different depending on the moment. Sometimes you lead. Sometimes you partner. Sometimes you follow so others can move up.

At Partners + Napier, that belief has shaped how we’ve grown—expanding our capabilities, evolving our leadership team, and making room for more people at the table. Some of the most meaningful moments for me as a leader have been witnessing the success of colleagues who have grown alongside me and are now shaping the future of the agency. That growth has also created opportunities for me to take on a broader role within our holding company while maintaining my role at Partners + Napier—proof that we’re never done growing and evolving.

That same belief also drives my commitment to developing the next generation. I’m proud to champion a variety of student programs at Partners + Napier, including The Napier Experience, now in its seventh year with RIT. Helping emerging leaders find their voice and confidence has become one of the most meaningful parts of my journey.

ATHENA affirmed my responsibility not just to lead well, but to help others grow into leadership in their own way.

CHERYL NELAN

ATHENA Award Recipient 2025

How has being a past ATHENA recipient impacted your personal and professional journey?

Receiving the ATHENA Award in 2025 was both humbling and energizing. For years, I’ve admired past ATHENA winners and finalists—they set the bar for what leadership with purpose looks like. To join their ranks was a reminder that success isn’t just about business results; it’s about lifting others and creating impact in the community.

Winning didn’t change my “why,” but it amplified my “how.” It pushed me to lean in even more— mentoring women in tech, sharing practical playbooks for growth, and building bridges across our business community. And none of this happens alone. My incredible team has been the heartbeat behind every initiative. Their creativity, resilience, and willingness to champion inclusion make our work possible. Together, we’ve widened pathways into tech and partnered with organizations that believe in growth for everyone.

Personally, this journey deepened my gratitude and resilience. Professionally, it strengthened our firm’s impact as clients and partners rallied around a shared vision: secure, modern IT paired with humancentered leadership. ATHENA reminded me that leadership is a team sport—and I’m proud to play it with the best team by my side.

Our purpose is to help the communities we serve thrive and our roots trace back to Albany, New York, where we were founded more than 200 years ago.

Our history is meaningful, but what matters most is how we show up today. All of us at KeyBank remain deeply committed to Rochester and the communities we call home. Since 2017, KeyBank has made community investments supporting low-tomoderate income individuals and neighborhoods totaling more than $1.2 billion in Rochester. This involves lending for affordable housing, small businesses, mortgage and home improvements as well as grants to non-profits like NeighborWorks Community Partners, Action for a Better Community, Habitat for Humanity, Foodlink, YWCA, and others. Together, these efforts create pathways to success and improve the quality of life for thousands of people in our region.

Our impact also extends beyond dollars. KeyBank teammates take pride in being hands-on partners in the community, both as financial professionals and as volunteers. You’ll see our teammates actively taking part in our communities throughout the year, especially during Neighbors Make the Difference Day, our annual tradition of service that brings thousands of KeyBank employees into local neighborhoods to support organizations and causes that drive meaningful change. We are honored to continue supporting the ATHENA International Awards, celebrating the accomplishments of exceptional women leaders in Greater Rochester and championing their continued success. Their work inspires others, strengthens our workforce, and reflects the values we believe are essential for strong, vibrant communities.

Our history is a long one, and across our 200 years, we have always looked to and built for the future. All of us at KeyBank look forward to continuing to make impactful investments, both with our dollars and our people, here in Rochester and all of the communities we serve. From Maine to Alaska, we have never been better positioned to serve, to innovate, and to grow. Together, we remain united in our purpose to help our clients, colleagues, and communities thrive.
