I’m a photographer from Barcelona, Spain, and have been documenting Playstation Home, with my camera, for more that 3 years now. The idea I have in mind is to have a chapter in my project about virtual fashion, and you are the best person I found to talk about that. I will make a selection of your self portraits and make you an interview inside Playstation Home. I will sign every photograph with your name, to quote you as the photographer. I’m also thinking to use some of the texts you wrote at the Ladys Fashion Runway thread, or maybe some descriptions of the pictures I select. Can we arrange a meeting? :-) Thanks a lot. Ok ladies! We all know what it is like being a women on Playstation Home when it comes to clothes and fashion. Making things work with the limited selection has been difficult for many of us. I know it has certainly been a challenge for me. I think given the fact that we now have new cameras, that it would be a neat idea to try and share some of our best fashion secrets with each other. What do you like to wear? What works? What would you like to see hit Threads, Threads II and Costumes related to clothes and fashion. Every women loves a Fashion Show – we know you guys don’t like this kind of stuff so you’ll just have to suffer through it. Why not take advantage of the opportunity to share some of our best fashion statements here through photography. I know I love to look at what other women are wearing (humm... don’t we all. LoL) I really think this could be fun. Let’s start the fashion show girls!

With Second Life and virtual reality platforms such as PlayStation Home the world has split in two. In this other world we can choose our personality and lifestyle at will. We can stay glued to the screen in our everyday tedium or embark on hair-raising adventures. We can decide which virtual urban tribes we want to join. And, naturally, in this split world we can become photographers and have to choose between doing a reportage in the style of Cartier-Bresson or Robert Frank, or portraits like Richard Avedon or Diane Arbus. In virtual life Herms goes out, camera in hand, in search of stories, characters and decisive moments. Joan Fontcuberta

This publication presents Joanna Dark, a fashion photographer on the virtual scene who portrays herself compulsively with the thousands of combinations of clothes she has at hand.

Produced in association with Arts Santa Mònica as part of the exhibition From Here On. Postphotography in the era of internet and cell phones, held in Barcelona from February 22 to April 13 2013, and curated by Clément Chéroux, Joan Fontcuberta, Erik Kessels, Martin Parr and Joachim Schmid.
