Due to my ambition, I have undertaken a number of creative projects allowing me to pursue my interest in communicating with an audience. Throughout these experiences I have ensured that I have left a positive lasting impression through my hard working attitude and strong eye for detail, which has led me to strive towards further progression within a creative writing environment.
Sheffield Hallam University 2009-2012 (Degree) Journalism BA Honours 2:1 I created, ran and edited an online magazine www.thesheffieldstudent.wordpress.com. I wrote articles, designed the website, applied SEO techniques, delegated work between other team members and controlled the site’s social networking platforms. In other projects I conducted interviews, edited audio and video, learnt shorthand and created a photography portfolio, as well as continuingly adapting my professional writing technique. Volunteer/Freelance/ Employment Experience: October 2012- Present, Online Editor for Soyo Live Recruiting writers to review gigs at a weekly music event, editing reviews, writing previews, posting articles online, and maintaining a constant stream of content on the website. Note: Voluntary position
August 2012 – Present, Freelance Copywriter for Cruising Excursions.com Researching information on cruise tours and then applying my creative writing skills to produce descriptions in a consistent, exciting and effective tone. They are then uploaded to the company’s website in order to generate sales.
June 2012, Social Media Volunteer at Sheffield Doc/Fest Regularly updating various social media platforms, interacting with users and supplying them with necessary information, creating awareness of events and data capturing. Note: Voluntary position
September 2010 â€“ Present, Journalist for SHULife Magazine, Soyo Live and Counterfeit Magazine I regularly contributed to online and print editions of various publications, predominantly focusing on up and coming musicians. I produced reviews of live gigs and albums to develop my writing style as well as enhancing my reputation as a writer. Hobbies and interests: My main interests lie within music; I enjoy discovering new, exciting and innovative artists, attending gigs and festivals and supporting local venues. I have also recently started gathering together a vinyl record collection. Another of my interests is film. I visit the cinema on a regular basis in the pursuit of watching both indie and blockbuster releases. Additionally I enjoy discovering films from previous generations to demonstrate their influences within modern cinema. I also enjoy going to football matches, especially to see my local team Hull City.
