D e s i g n s t ud ie s Entrance Connect building We were tasked to make the main entrance for an office building stand out more, so visitors identified were they had to enter immediately. The problem with the existing was that it didn’t stand out compared to the entrances of the building. It was also to dark behind the entrance, with no hierarchy in the window framing, making it hard to locate the actual entrance door. By introducing a green strip that guides you to the main entrance we emphasis the location of the entrance. The entrance itself we emphasized by creating a wooden natural looking cantilever. Replacing the two small entrance doors, by one big door. To get more light in the entrance small interiors changes were made, such as replacing some closed walls with glass walls. Extension home For this extension we had to come up with a nice design for a decently light looking 10 meter long beam. The residents intended to extend the kitchen and dining area towards the garden (the north side) with 4 meters. Gaining as much light as possible. So for the aesthetic we used a reference from Richard Neutra and we took the hierarchy between roof and walls he uses a lot in his designs. This way it seems like the roof is almost floating between the two walls. By adding a very thin detailed curtain wall, the connection between inside and outside is almost seamless.
