THE WEEKLY WOOF OFF THE PORCH DOG DAY CAMP z
You’ll notice below a little preview of the new logo!! I’m still figuring out how to work with some of the files so you’ll have to wait to see it in all it’s glory :) We’re also working on the details of our initial training services and will be unveiling those shortly. Until then we’re happy to talk to anyone who might be
interested in some in-home coaching.
A POINT OF VIEW
So much to learn and be reminded of when in the company of dogs. My latest revelation came again from the book Bones Would Rain from the Sky, quickly becoming my favorite dog book evverrrr! “Being with” and “walking with” our dog has a very different quality from “having” a dog and “walking the dog”. And, just because we might be attached to our dogs via a leash does not mean that we are necessarily connected with them. Suzanne Clothier suggests that dogs most likely feel the same way and she describes a much stronger
connection that comes out of mutual and respectful attention in all circumstances. Attention to our dogs means being willing to try to understand their experience and be ready to “help, defend or reassure them as needed”. When there is balance in a relationship it seems easy, with an exchange of energy that does not flow too heavily in one direction. So, for this week I will renew my focus on “being with” and “walking with” the dogs trying to experience the world from their
point of view.
Always grateful, Bob and Wendy
