We live in a world where large corporations hide bad ingredients behind a wall of pseudo-science and carefully selected words. Therefore the aim of this project was to redesign the information on the front of food packaging. It stems from the lack of clear, useful information that might help consumers decide what is truly healthy food. This project sees the development of a government lead scheme which could bring about positive changes within the food industry and for Britain as a whole. It tackles the core problem of consumers face on a daily basis: what constitutes as unhealthy food. The developed application provides a service that not only invites the user to investigate what they eat, but streamlines the shopping experience. Robert Sewell

This would be the colour of the sticker on the packaging. Green was chosen because of its connection to nature. Its hue calms and conveys a ‘good’ or ‘go’ message to the shopper. Green blends in with the majority of the chosen because it acts as an appetite suppressant. Very few companies use the colour blue on their packaging for this reason meaning the labels will stand out.

The labels on products were designed to be slightly irregular which causes makes the circles more eye catching. The shape reinforces the natural aspect of the campaign without being overbearing or fashionable. The information would be supplied by the parent companies, along with funding for the government to test the Glycemic Load of the produce. Initially it would be opt-in, then after a large proportion of the industry has switched over to this system it would become mandatory.
