Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wedding DJ If you're planning your wedding, you probably have a laundry list about a mile long of things to do: pick out flowers, get fitted for a dress, and choose party favors and caterers. The whole task can be quite daunting and overwhelming, especially if you're doing it on your own. But out of all of the items to check off on your to-do list, don't forget about choosing the DJ that will create the soundtrack to your special day. If you're having trouble finding the perfect DJ, keep these few tips in mind.
• Don't settle for the cheapest. Maybe this goes without saying, but you could be getting yourself in big trouble if you settle for the cheapest DJ you can find. Maybe you'll get lucky and you'll find out that the cheapest one is also the best, but do your research before making any decisions. Find out the specifics and any hidden costs you might not have considered before. Is there a time limit? Do they accept requests? If you have any questions at all about the process, be sure to ask so that you don't find yourself severely disappointed with the service.
• Ask for referrals. Talk to friends and family to see if anyone has suggestions. People who were particularly thrilled with the quality of service they received at their own wedding will be happy to give you a name and number and then you can be sure that you're getting the best. If you don't know anyone who's been married recently, consider asking the DJs that you interview for a list of references for you to contact. If the DJ provides you the list, you're sure to talk to people who have a lot of nice things to say - your DJ won't give you a list of people who were completely unsatisfied. But they may also clue you in on anything that the DJ did that they weren't expecting and that could work to your benefit.
• The more involved you are, the better. The DJ you eventually choose will probably ask for a list of songs for the more important moments of your reception, like your first dance and your father-daughter dance. Choose these songs yourself and choose them wisely because you won't get another shot. But you can also give your DJ a list of requests that you'd like to be heard throughout your big day. They should be able to fairly easily work them into their playlists. Don't be shy when it comes to requests. Your guests will appreciate it just as much as you do if your playlist is an original creation that brings back fond memories.
Your wedding is your day and your DJ will provide the soundtrack to what will be remembered for the rest of your life.
Before you settle for the cheapest or the first DJ you stumble upon, do your research and find out exactly what each DJ can offer when it comes to music, equipment and DJ event lighting . Then sit back and enjoy the show.
