Now supplying units fitted with cutting edge Euro 6 engines, these impressive trucks are capable of delivering up to eight percent savings on fuel costs. Equipped with a new version of Scania Opticruise, Euro 6 vehicles feature a choice of performance modes. To maximise fuel savings, the new Economy mode is integrated fully with Scania Active Prediction, a predictive cruise control system that uses GPS and topographical map data to finely regulate speed and which is fitted as standard. By combining Scania's Euro 6 engines with these fuel-saving strategies and other efficiencyenhancing measures, such as aerodynamic packages and driver coaching, potential savings in long-haulage are a major attraction. At Road Trucks’ recent Ride and Drive event, the R 410 SCR-only vehicle was especially well received, with very positive comments on its excellent torque. The 410 horsepower SCR engine is the direct replacement for Scania's 420 horsepower unit. Like its predecessor, the new engine promises outstanding fuel economy but with the additional benefit of delivering an extra 50 Nm of torque. At a test conducted in Germany, a G410 4x2 Scania Streamline fitted with Scania Opticruise and Scania Active Prediction set a new fuel consumption record – regardless of Euro 5 or 6!
