How Vibration Exercise Is Used You are not the only one if you have never heard about vibration exercise. Also known as WBV or whole body vibration, this type of exercise has been studied for over 100 years. With the recent awareness it has received in the USA, other countries for years have enjoyed this type of exercise which is low impact, quick and easy. The list of advantages is too long to list entirely, but the main benefits include increased flexibility, increased physical stamina and strength, increased muscle mass, decrease in stress hormones, reduction in joint and muscle discomfort, accelerated weight loss, and an improved experience of well-being. First created by Swedish doctor Gustrav Zander, vibration exercises became a reality in 1857. Demonstrated at two world fairs, Dr. Zander developed several vibration machines. Similar to today's health clubs or gyms, Dr, Zander used his machines in Zander institutes. Over time, these centers became very popular in the Netherlands, and became popular world-wide also. In the 1890s, an American innovator named Dr. John Harvey Kellogg created his own vibration appliance. Touted to cure back problems, constipation and headaches, Dr. Kellog designed a chair which shook clients strongly. The standing platform was designed later on. It was not until the 1960s that the beginning of WBV as we know it these days was developed. Developed in East Germany, these appliances used a specialized form of vibration called rhythmic neuromuscular stimulation. Russian researchers later on took these techniques and continued to make improvements to them. WBV was studied on cosmonauts from where the Russians tried various techniques after they had been away on long space missions. Muscle atrophy and weakness could be quickly corrected by using WBV where the cosmonaut's experienced issues from long stretches of weightlessness. Over the years, the Russians conducted a lot more research on WBV and were amazed at how muscle mass could be improved by just using WBV consistently. Additionally, the vibration exercises speeded healing during physical rehabilitation and to prevent injury to professional athletes. WBV was applied by Russian players during the Olympic Games in the 1960s. After the fall of Communism, the knowledge that the Russians had gathered since the 1960s became easily available to their western and eastern counterparts. Various other researchers and scientists took this new found knowledge and further studied and improved on it. WBV instantly flourished in Asian and European countries, but has only recently been discovered in the USA. At first, only the very wealthy could afford WBV devices, but with improved technology and increasing interest by the open public, costs have steadily dropped. There are some great machines available for home exercise use costing just several hundred or thousands of dollars, depending on the elements you want. Vibration exercise is simple to perform in addition to the wide range of health and fitness benefits. As a standard form of exercise, even the elderly can take full advantage of WBV as it is not difficult in any respect. Often in under 10 minutes, this low impact exercise takes only a few minutes to carry out one treatment. The platform can be utilized statically or dynamically. For people, there are a few configurations of WBV machines accessible. Most are standing models; some have safety bars, some will not. Some offer one type of vibration and others offer 2 or more types of vibration. There are devices that also include pre-programmed exercise programs. The model VibraTrim, LLC
