Modern-day activist Carmen Perez headlines Scottsdale’s 25th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Dinner Celebration. The event takes place at Embassy Suites, 5001 N. Scottsdale Road. Registration begins at 5 p.m., and the program starts at 6 p.m. Perez is an activist who has worked on civil rights issues —including mass incarceration, women’ss rights and gender equity, violence prevention, racial healing and community policing. Sunday A’Fair mini-festivals return Jan. 13
