One of the world’s premier collections of horror and sci-fi movie posters amassed, not altogether surprisingly, by the dark mind of Metallica’s lead guitarist, Kirk Hammett.

Before Kirk Hammett assumed the heavy metal mantle of one of the most successful and beloved bands in rock history, he was a geek for the imaginative universe of horror. This generously illustrated book highlights the finest examples from Hammett’s personal collection—an astonishing trove of horror and sci-fi film posters that span the history of the genre. The guitarist credits his musical force to a lifelong fascination with the gothic fantasy developed in these films and their original posters. In this volume, several intriguing essays cover the history of the film poster, the brain’s response to fear, and Hammett’s own contributions to the world of the macabre. Daniel Finamore is the Russell W. Knight Curator of Maritime Art and History at the Peabody Essex Museum. Joseph LeDoux is the Henry and Lucy Moses Professor of Science at New York University in the Center for Neural Science and directs the Emotional Brain Institute of New York University and the Nathan Kline Institute. Steve Almond ’s essays appear regularly in publications including T Magazine and the Boston Globe. Exhibition Schedule: Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts: August 12–November 26, 2017

Tiffany Glass Coloring Book JESSICA PALMER IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY

An elegant new coloring book inspired by and celebrating the spectacular designs of Tiffany lamps at the New-York Historical Society.

CRAFTS 96 pages, 9 x 10” 65 b/w illustrations PB: 978-0-8478-6070-8 $16.95 Can: $22.95 UK: £12.95 September 19, 2017 Rights: World SK I R A R I Z Z OLI

A new addition to the wildly successful coloring-book genre, the leaded, kaleidoscopic designs of the beloved 132 Tiffany Studios lamps and three windows in the Neustadt Collection at the New-York Historical Society lend themselves perfectly to the format of a coloring book. The new drawings by renowned British illustrator Jessica Palmer, sixty-five single-page and full-spread illustrations in all, are inspired by the magical natural world of Tiffany, depicting dragonflies dancing among peonies, wisteria vines drooping over ponds, and entwining tulip and poppy blossoms. At least one dragonfly—arguably the best known of all Tiffany motifs—is found in every drawing, sometimes tucked away in a corner, sometimes the centerpiece. These intricate drawings beg to be filled in with a riot of color and are sure to provide a meditative calming of the spirit that coloring-book aficionados seek. Jessica Palmer studied illustration at Kingston University in the U.K. She is a visiting artist in galleries and museums in London, Bath, and Bristol, including the V&A and the National Portrait Gallery, and she exhibits in London and the west of England. She has produced commissions, exhibition pieces, and book illustrations in the United States. Her first coloring book, Tangle Wood, was a best seller in England.
