................................................................................................................... KNIGHTS PARK BAR STAFF GET COCKTAIL TRAINING Employees at Knights Park Bar received training in cocktail-making last week as part of a plan to revamp the bar. The training was organised by new bar manager Paul Daniels. Paul thinks that the new drinks will go down well with the arts students at Knights Park. “It’s just a nice thing to have, and it’s good for the bar staff,” he said. The bar staff themselves seemed very keen to get involved, each trying out different drinks under the watchful eye of David, a bartender himself, who gives tutorials and training in cocktail-making etiquette. Those at the tutorial watched in awe as he expertly mixed blends

of liqueurs, deftly added sliced mint and crushed ice into the mixture and flambéd orange peel with a lighter, a skill I’m told is a vital part of a bartender’s repertoire (not really, but it was great fun to watch). The staff seemed optimistic about the introduction of cocktails at the bar. “It’s something different. The first few weeks may be tricky, but I reckon we’ll get the hang of it,” said Egle Falange, one of the bartenders. “We’ll all work together,” he added.

SO WHAT’S ON THE MENU? Every monday pitchers £5, glasses £2.50 The bar will serve two types of cocktail: the simpler cocktail pitchers, and the more complex ‘classic cocktails’. Cocktail (in pitcher, or by the glass): £3.50/£6
