THE State Government is sitting on a report which recommends building a centrally located sports stadium for up to 100,000 people, adelaidenow reports. The report, commissioned by Sports Minister Michael Wright in 2006, is believed to have gone to the Cabinet without any subsequent action being taken.

A firefighter killed when a tree crushed him near the Victorian town of Marysville was within hours of returning home after battling bushfires for four days, The Age reports. The 58-year-old professional firefighter was due to join 101 of his mates on a bus trip home to Canberra early yesterday morning.
