FINAL designs for the much anticipated half a million dollar Barmera Playspace show a children’s haven where the creativity and imagination of kids will run wild. The detailed plans have been released for a two week public consultation period and Barmera Playspace Group members are expecting work to begin at the Sedunary Park site by next month.
BRAD PERRY Group chairperson Benita Dillon said raising money and community support for the major project has been a labour of love for many who have volunteered their time to make the dream a reality.
Plans show up to 40 different elements of the Playspace, including numerous pieces of equipment, mazes, sandpits, sculptures, art, seating, plantings, barbecue and shelter facilities. Ms Dillon said the impressive playspace is something Barmera has been crying out for. ■ Continued Page 4 & 5

THE launch the Barmera Playspace plan is a ray of sunshine in what has been a bleak time for the Riverland. This group of go ahead community members has developed a wonderful project that will benefit kids and families from right across the region. For people visiting the region and for tourists travelling through, the Playspace will also become a popular attraction. Travelling parents like to stop somewhere that allows their children to get out to stretch, expend some energy and have a little fun. Next time you are on a road trip, keep an eye out on the playgrounds as you pass through towns, you will most certainly see travelling families. Barmeraโs Sedunary Park, just off the Sturt Highway, is the perfect spot for such a stop. The playground plans look bright, vibrant and exciting and the Lake Bonney foreshore presents a stunning backdrop for some fun in the fantastic Riverland climate.
Word of the Week . . . Playground, noun An outdoor area for childrenโs play, especially one having swings, slides, etc., or adjoining a school.
