Hello! I’m Ritvik. Student of industrial design at ISD Rbuika India, electronics engineer.

Looking for a 6 month internship from July/August 2018.


Thoughts on design. I believe that my role as a designer is to be the bridge between existing or emerging technologies and the people who can benefit from them.

Ukiyo. A water dispenser/purifier with a different perspective on water. How can different experiences related to water be translated into a product? Personal project. Duration: 3 Weeks.


Water is more than just pouring a glass. Existing products in the market are merely machines which dispense water without capturing our deeper ties with water.

Narrowing down on the ideas from the ideation stage, the two key words were Purity and Tranquility. Purity; the feeling invoked by the movement of water through sight and vision. Tranqility; the peace of mind when looking at a water body.

Ukiyo. [ u-key-yo ] Japanese (n.) “The floating world “, Living in the moment, detatched from the bothers of life. The water purifier with which you experience the tranquility and beauty of water.

The flow.

The water outlet has two infrared sensor in order to dispense water, one sensor helps in detecting the glass the other sensor helps detecting the person in front, when both are detected the water is dispensed.

The water flows against the glass after being pumped to the top, post filteration, everytime water is dipensed, it flows down and into the glass.

The internal parts of the UV filtration unit were considered when drawing up the plans and deciding the proportions for Ukiyo.


Dynaskin. Being avid fans of football we were struck by the prospect of wearables in this sport. The thought was; How can we find applications for up and coming wearable technologies to enhance training and as a result, performance, in football. Collaboration project with Darshan Patel. Duration: 3 Weeks.


How are wearables used during training?

Injury prevention. Functional movement screening test is conducted periodically to assess injury vulnerability.

Injury prevention and vulnerabilites. A look at where injuries occour the most frequently and what steps are taken to prevent injuries in the sport currently.

Muscle injuries. Muscle injuries are the most common form of injuries that occour in football.

The Rokoko smart suit. To capture movement.

The rokoko smart suit helps to capture the movements of the limbs in real time with the help of 19 inertial sensors, each with 9 degrees-of-freedom. This information is relayed to a hub wirelessly through an inbuilt WiFi hub.

Tacterion sensorskin C. To capture muscle movement.

The technology. Combining existing up and coming technology to arrive at a solution.

A stretchable sensor layer for making curved, soft and complex objects sensitive to touch and pressure. This sensor can take the shape of body and detect each minute muscle movement in the athelete’s body.

Integrating the kinesiology tape as a wearable device which can transmit telemetric data of the player and monitor mucle movements. As it is in close proximity to the muscles.

A compression skin worn by players during training which can measure both limb movement and muscle extention.

Widely used.

Conforms to body.

Skins are widely used by players during training and matches, either to counter the weather or for compression training.

Since skins are meant to conform to the shape of the body it provides, the technology, the perfect opportunity to monitor muscle movements.


Development sketches. After narrowing down to dynaskin as the concept, the development sketches were used to make critical decisions regarding the product.


Presenting Dynaskin. Arriving on the final look of the skins after exploration and development sketches.

The product ecosystem. The product ecosystem consists of the wearable skin and the application that helps the coaching staff interact with it and use the data.


A fabric that can detect the stretching muscles. The skin would detect the stretching of the muscles by means of bi-directional capacitors, as proposed by the tacterion sensor skin.


MEMS Inertial sensors. The skin is fitted with 10 gyroscopic sensors to map the movement of the limbs of the body. This allied with the information of muscle movements will help gather accurate telemetric data.

+ Data carriers. The data from the sensors is carried, by these conductive fibres, to the main wireless hub placed at the back of the skins. This data is then transferred wirelessly to the app.

The Ai learns each players body movements and sets up an optimized thershold for them.

The telemetry is recorded during training and can be used to give retrospective advise to them.


User scenario I. During the training sessions; the coach supervises the training sesssion while the physio monitors the players stats and keeps relaying necessary information to the coach.

1. The players get ready for training and ear dynaskin in the dressing rooms.

2. The coach supervises the training, while the physio can monitor each player as they train.

3. The physio spots a player going beyond his threshold levels of muscle strain.

4. He alerts the player and calls him in for a cool down session.


User scenario II. In the case of a player is already injured and is in rehab training, dynaskin enables the physio to keep a live check on the players movements.

1. The player is recovering from an injury.

2. The rehabilitation training starts, with the coach and physio while he is being monitored by the physio.

3. The player is feels fit and ready to take the field.

4. The players fitness can be then verified and recorded by performing the functional movement screening on field. In real time.


Switch Iron. This project was an opportunity to work with a venerated Indian brand; Havells. The question posed to us was; How can we design a new “de-wrinkling� device. for clothes which is user friendly, differentiated and desirable. Team project | 3 months

2 Modes

2 treatments.

The switch has two modes of operation; The steaming mde where the head doubles up as a steamer and the ironing mode with both together.

This allows for two treatments of clothes; the steaming for quick ironing out of the closet and the steamironing for a larger quantity of clothes.

Accessible controls. The controls are visible on either side, for left handed and right handed users. This gives the users a way to see what setting they have chosen and can be done while using the product.

Feedback. An indicator light runs along the perimeter of switch to notify everyone wheather it is hot or cooling down.

Switch surface. An accessory; flippable board which can support horizontal as well as vertical de-wrinkling.

The use of the switch surface complements the steaming and ironing of the product.

The mockup. The mockup was a 3D print, primered and painted to achieve the proportions, so as to get a feel of the product.

Development sketches After narrowing down to the three keywords for the aesthetics, various detailed sketches for developing the front, back and side views weren done.

Mini explorer.

The suspension folds to free up space for parking the vehicle when space is at a premium.

The gull wing doors help in access to the vehicle in tight spaces.

The autonomous drone on the back helps the users monitor traffic in the city and capture moments on weekend getways.


3D printing preparation Slicing the model for printing, the model was cut into 7 pieces for printing. The ABS profiles for the print were tuned in simplify 3D.

Last mile commuter. On going project. Devising a service and vehicle for the last mile commutes of public transport users india metro cities. Team project | 3 months


So far... The project is currently in the analysis phase. This includes conducting a survey, identifying users and making a sketch prototype to understand the constraints.

Elvis. An interactive ambient light designed by Sushant Vohra. I was involved in the prototyping phase for the project. Collaboration project | 3 Weeks.


The assembly. The assembly involved programming an arduino to control two slide potentiometers to vary the brighness of WS2812 LED’s. The metal fabrication was done by Sushant Vohra.

The electronic assembly, including the arduino and potentiometers.

Testing the setup; the sliding panel changes the intensity of the LED panel.
