Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt An Egg Hunt in the dark, whoever heard of such a thing? Bring your children to Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area’s (BLORA) Flashlight Egg Hunt, April 5. Over 63,000 eggs are hidden for children 2- 12 years old to find. Pre-hunt activities begin at 6 pm and include: concessions, attractions, photos with the Easter Bunny and more. The hunt begins at 8:30 pm, but BLORA’s gate closes at 8:10 pm, so get there early.
Children ages 2 – 7 years old, must hunt with an adult. The fee is $6 per passenger vehicle and more for larger vehicles. Flashlight Egg Hunt is open to the public. For more information, call 254-287-2523. BLORA is located on North Nolan Road approximately 10 miles from East Range Road. Access to park is also possible from FM 439 and Sparta Road.
Club Hood’s Easter Sunday Brunch Celebrate the season with Easter Sunday Brunch at Club Hood on April 8 at the 11 am or 1:30 pm seatings. Enjoy assorted salads, desserts, mimosas, Virginia baked ham, top round of beef, chicken cordon bleu, shrimp a ’peel, macaroni and cheese, red skinned mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and omelet and waffle stations. Brunch also includes free Egg Hunts for two different age groups at each seating: ages 1-5 and 6-10 at 12:15 pm and 2:45 pm. Brunch is a mere $19.95 for adults, $6.95 for children 5-12 and free for children 4 years of age and under. Community Yard Sale In support of Net Zero Waste 2020, there will be a communitywide yard sale on April 14, from 7 am - 3 pm. Be sure to make time to stop by housing areas throughout the installation, to find all kinds of treasures available for reuse. Yard sales are another way to decrease waste and recycle, by allowing others the opportunity to recycle items that might otherwise go to a landfill. Family Child Care (FCC) Amnesty The FCC Amnesty Plan allows individuals who are not currently certified FCC Providers, but are regularly caring for children in government-leased housing, an opportunity to register with Child, Youth & School Services as an FCC applicant without penalty. During the month of May, persons who come forward and meet the FCC Provider eligibility requirements, may continue to provide on post child care in government leased housing while simultaneously going through the FCC certification process. Applications may be picked up at the FCC office located in Bldg. 283 on Battalion Avenue, Monday - Friday, 7:30 – 4:30. Complete applications must be submitted by Wednesday, April 18. FCC certification classes begin on May 7 and continue through the remainder of the month of May. For more information, call 254-288-3865 .
2-person Tip ‘n Tuck Tournament The Courses of Clear Creek will host a 2-Person, Tipn-Tuck golf tournament on Saturday, April 21 at 9 am. Registration will be from 7:45 until 8:45 am. The cost is $15 per person plus applicable greens and cart fees. This is a 2-person scramble event where all of the tees are moved back (Tip) and the hole locations are in some of the most challenging positions imaginable (Tuck). In years past, some of our best reviews have come from this tournament. Remember, even though you may feel a hole is too difficult, all of the teams must play that same hole. All participants are provided a hole location sheet which depicts to actual location on the green. This will give to an opportunity to “go for the hole” or “play it safe”, the option and shot is yours for the making. Optional mulligan's will be on sale (3 for $5.00) at registration with a limit of three mulligans per person. A hamburger/cheeseburger lunch will be served after play for all participants. Lunch includes a sandwich, chips, and fountain drink. Operation Fight Night Welcome to the sport that continues to climb the popularity charts among sports enthusiasts – Mixed Martial Arts. Cage Warrior Combat, in conjunction with Family and MWR, presents Operation: Fight Night, April 14 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center. The doors open at 6 pm and the bouts begin at 7 pm. This event features a bout between Fort Hood’s own - SFC Jesse Montez Thorton Sr., United States All-Army Flyweight Combatives Champion vs. Jens Pulver, Former UFC Lightweight Champion. Come out to an evening full of action and entertainment as several professional MMA bouts entertain the masses. Also, UFC’s Interim Welterweight Champion, Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit will be making a special guest appearance and conducting a meet and greet with the fans. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Open to all with all seats available for $25; however, a limited number of reserved seats available, on a first come, first served basis, at Leisure Travel Services. Courses of Clear Creek Spring Demo Day The Courses of Clear Creek will host their Annual Spring Demo Day on Saturday, April 14 from 9 am to 3 pm. The event will take place on driving range and will include free range balls for everyone. Manufacturers will provide expert representatives from Ping, TaylorMade, Callaway, Cleveland, Titleist, Cobra, Nike, and Wilson. These representatives will provide information, suggestions, and recommendations for everyone trying out their equipment. This is everyone’s opportunity to hit the latest equipment and the
event is open to the public. During Demo Day, The Courses of Clear Creek will extend a 10% discount on all merchandise sales over $35. This discount does not apply towards Ping products. If you are looking for new equipment or just want to hit what the pros are hitting, you will not want to miss the Spring Demo Day.
