Here it comes, Valentine?s Day, the day we celebrate LOVE! This day brings excitement to some; however, others wish for the day to quickly pass for various reasons. Whatever you may be feeling, as this day approaches, choose to do a new thing. Let?s focus on celebrating all the precious relationships in our lives by honoring those we appreciate and admire. Be creative and show your mom, dad, grandmother, any other special family members what their support and encouragement has meant. What about that S.W.A.T.A. sister who we can always depend upon or the friend who knew us back then and celebrates us now? In addition, show care and concern to someone who may be alone; perhaps a coworker, a college student away from home, or someone in our church who doesn?t have family near. Start planning now, who you are going to surprise with an unexpected expression of love this Valentine?s Day. Above all else, let?s remember to rejoice in the truth that God, who is love, loves us!

S.W.A.T.A. Spotlights Melissa Samuels! Melissa and her husband, Don Samuels, are the Children?s Church Coordinators of Kids Town. She was in good spirits, as usual, and was delightfully shocked to learn she was being highlighted as a ?S.W.A.T.A. Shero." The interview began by asking Melissa to tell us about herself, how she arrived to Columbia, SC, and what drives her to be a fierce S.W.A.T.A. Shero. Melissa was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduation, she attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she met Brother Don. During matriculation through the program to become a licensed elementary teacher, Melissa began ministry there by serving others. It was then that she realized teaching people about the love of Christ brought her great pleasure and joy. After Melissa graduated, married and started a family with Don, she was diagnosed with Lupus. In 2008, she was hospitalized for three months due to Hemolytic Anemia, a blood disorder in which red blood cells are destroyed faster than they can be made. This disorder resulted in her needing up to five blood transfusions a day! In this state of limited self-sufficiency, she remembered what got her through it. Faith! Because she was so ill, Brother Don stopped working to be there with her and intentionally filled the hospital atmosphere with God's Word. He prayed, read scriptures, played music, and would not allow any negative reports to be shared with Melissa due to the severity of her condition. To God be the glory, Melissa received her healing! She and Don made the decision to move closer to family for support; which brought them to Columbia, South Carolina and RDCI. After becoming a member, Melissa immediately realized how effectual, important, and powerful S.W.A.T.A. and Dr. Marcia are to her. She emphasized how Dr. Marcia has shown and taught her that as a woman, she has spiritual authority in her home and in any environment she enters. She boldly declares that because she sees Dr. Marcia praying and going above and beyond to show God honor, she is now confident to use the Word in every area and with accuracy. Melissa is a S.W.A.T.A. Shero because she has overcome barriers that would have stopped many to become the best wife, mother and leader she can be. As she fulfills her assignment in ministry by serving the children of RDCI, Melissa stated, "It is our hope that children learn to live a life of faith and that living a life of faith isn't boring to them, but they can have a life of victories now!"

DID YOU KNOW ? Statistics show that Americans average 13 hours daily in a sedentary position and that amount of sitting impacts our bodies, minds, total health, and overall lives. A sedentary lifestyle is defined as a type of lifestyle where an individual does not receive regular amounts of physical activity. Therefore, to counteract the impact of our sedentary jobs, we need to get moving. Here are a few ways to incorporate movement into our regular workday: take a mental break every hour, stand up, stretch or walk in place, stand and/or move during phone calls, turn a working lunch into a walking lunch, be creative, have fun, and get moving!

NAOM I'S NUGGETS For my shame, disappointment, and delay, God is going to give me double. God is coming for the wounds of my soul, to restore my soul, my mind, and emotions. Whatever isn't right in my womb, God is going to work a miracle both naturally and spiritually!

To have all God has promised and to make Kingdom impact, I must take it by force. If I am going to occupy, I must seize it and " Next level is break through walls. only going to come by force. This season is not to blend in, but to DOMINATE!"
