MUSIC FOR LIFE! When you first meet David Clementina you are sure to catch his contagious upbeat and lively persona. This fast talking ‘Jack of all Trades’ has been one of the premier morning jocks on the island for a little while now. Helping you jumpstart your morning right with the perfect combination of feel good music and celebrity news, “The Morning Jam” is like an alarm clock, an energy drink, breakfast and the right vitamins in all put together in one show. David, aka DJ BIG D is one of the reasons you MUST listen to 88Rockorsou(88.3). If you didn’t know him yet, let GoWeekly introduce you to this dynamic young DJ extraordinaire.

To the people who have been living under a rock or on Mars, who is David Clementina? ‘A Down to earth , social, and a hard working guy. People tend to judge you on your appearance, but once they get to know David they will see that I am a very easy going guy.’ What are your passions? ‘My passions are radio and music, especially Hip Hop music. So you could say that I’m at the right place working at 88Rockorsou, it is a Hip Hop radio station. I have been working there on and off since 2002. I went to study abroad in 2004 and when I returned to Curaçao I went directly back to work at the radio station.’ You did not start off behind the mic right away, correct? ‘That is right. I first began doing marketing and sales at the station. What many people don’t know is that my parents own the stations (CUROM Broadcasting); they have been in the radio business all their lives. I basically grew up at the radio station. There is where my passion for music got fueled.’ You have your own radio show at 88 Rockorsou called ‘The Morning Jam’. Tell us more. ‘The Morning Jam is a show that gives people the chance to start their

day in a good mood. I give people their soundtrack for the day. If you’re either on your way to school, to work or just chilling at home, we have something for you.’ You grew up around the radio station, you’re a DJ and a music lover, what does music mean to you? ‘I was thinking about this a few days ago, life would be nothing without music. People attach music to certain emotions or events in life. When a certain song is played, some people get reminded about an event or a person in their lives. The emotional bond that people have with music makes it interesting.’ Hip Hop is the genre of music you like the most. If I were to take your IPod, what kind of other music would I find besides Hip Hop? ‘Occasionally a Dance track, but surprisingly a lot of 90’s “Ritmo Combina”. Old songs by ERA, GIO, OK band and Happy Peanuts. You know those good old “Landhuis Brievengat” days.’ If you were to be cast off to an isolated island, what are the 3 things that you would take along? ‘That is easy, my radio, a girl and “pruimu chines” (dried Chinese prunes). I cannot go 2 days without those. It is my ultimate addiction.’ go weekly 10 | 12 | P5

Is there a song that whenever you’re in a bad mood, if you would hear that song, it would make your day? ‘Yes, it is a song by Jay-Z called “Encore”. This song lifts me up. No challenge is too great for me when I hear that song.’ What are the misconceptions about being a radio host? ‘People tend to think that it’s a very easy job, which you just need to sit behind a microphone, play some music, talk a little and that’s it. Being a radio host is much more. You have an audience depending on you to entertain them; you are the connection between the artist and the public. You can make or break an artist, build a brand. It is a lot of responsibility, but I love it.’ We wouldn’t need to worry about DJ Big D making the wrong music choice for his audience. His years of experience make him the perfect sound track maker to start of your morning right. Be sure to catch him in the morning at 88Rockorsou in the Morning Jam.

Nicki Minaj loves to wig out! The fearless rapper switches between dozens of natural-hair wigs dyed in candy hues from neon green to rainbow stripes. “She loves color, and she’s always in revamp mode,” her wigologist Terrence Davidson told InStyle. “You never know what’s coming next.”

Kate Middleton puts her best foot forward to judge university shoe competition Kate Middleton is often dubbed the queen of fashion and the stylish duchess will be putting her critical eye to the test once again, when she judges a university shoe competition. The Duchess of Cambridge will pick her favourite design shortlisted from students at the prestigious Footwear Design course at De Montfort University, during her Diamond Jubilee visit to Leicester. Her favourite design will then be expertly crafted to her exact specifications at the uni campus in the city, before the custom made shoes are delivered to the duchess.

Roberto Cavalli Fall 2012 RTW Collection Supermodel returned to the runway. Sequins, sparkle, eclectic animal texture combos and a desire to stand out barely manage to sum up the variety of complex outfit styles the high-end label Roberto Cavalli is bringing for the cold seasons of the year. Intriguing and sexy, the Cavalli woman definitely knows how to play up her features and fearlessly make a statement. The brand was never an advocate of ‘less is more’ style philosophy which endorses strategic focal points as a way to attract attention. Instead, the philosophy has always been creating complex looks, compelling that they never fail to create an immediate reaction and become memorable. Mixing animal prints, therefore, is not only not frown upon, but actually highly encouraged and the tempting color palettes, sheen touches and breath-taking accessories are the perfect ingredient for creating that sophisticated vixen vibe one cannot help but be intrigued by.

Reese Witherspoon Gives New Meaning to ‘Statement Necklace At the kickoff to the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters in Washington, D.C., Avon Global Ambassador Reese Witherspoon told reporters that the prevention of domestic violence begins at home. The actress also showed her commitment to the cause when she unveiled Avon’s new Empowerment Circle of Support necklace. Net profits from the sale of the $5 charm, a ring of interlocked infinity symbols, will fund the Avon Foundation’s global efforts to end violence against women. “Wear the Empowerment necklace proudly,” Witherspoon said of the charitable chain. “You are making a difference!”

5 tips to make your skin soft Moisturize - This is probably the most obvious method to keep your skin soft. It’s important to moisturize your skin once (preferably twice) daily. Make sure you always apply moisturizer after you step out of the bath or shower, since the water will quickly dehydrate your skin. Want to try something new? Make your own homeade skin cream.

Use Bath Oil - Whenever you take a bath, be sure to add oil.

Oil will help condition your dry skin and keep the moisture in your skin.

Drink Plenty of Water - Staying well hydrated is a simple way to make sure you body’s water levels do not become depleted. Dehydration will quickly affect the look and feel of your skin in a negative way. Exfoliate your Skin - Exfoliating your skin helps remove dead skin cells, and will keep your skin much smoother by reducing rough patches that develop over time. Be sure to exfoliate at least once a week. A dry brush is a simply way to exfoliate. Be sure to apply moisturizer after. Eat Omega 3 Fatty Acids - These beneficial oils found in certain

plants and cold water fish species can be very beneficial to your skin. They actually help the skin cells hold more water, and decrease the chance of them becoming dehydrated. The easiest way to consume Omega 3′s is to either take a supplement, or consume fish such as GO WEEKLY HALF PAGE.FH11 Thu Feb 09 11:47:38 2012 Page 1 salmon orADS trout at least once a week.

Supermodel-turnedbusinesswoman

Tyra Banks enrolled in Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program last year to learn how to build her multi-million-dollar brand, and she fully immersed herself in college life. Not only did the “America’s Next Top Model” host make friends, join study groups, and wear Harvard hoodies, she also indulged in college cuisine at the campus cafeteria. “The food is insane, it’s so good. We always have like an amazing Indian dish. There was a comfort food station, salad bar, two soups to choose from, two smoothies to choose from, olive bar.” But in all seriousness, Banks - who just graduated on February 17 - also gained skills and knowledge that are already helping her improve her business, Bankable Productions. “Finance is definitely not a strength, but after graduating I wouldn’t say I’m a pro at it, but I can definitely handle the finance part of my business much better than before,” she adds.

Wet and wild

Justin Biebers Birthday Bash Justin Bieber officially turned 18 on Thursday and made sure to celebrate his big milestone right at a bash with all of his closest A-list pals.

“Modern Family” mother and son Sofia Vergara and Rico Rodriguez had a scream on the wet and wild Splash Mountain ride while shooting an episode on location at Disneyland on Wednesday. And yes, those are high heels in Sofia’s hand. Hope she hung on to them!

Surprised with a Friday night party at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel put on by his manager Scooter Braun, his mom Patti Mallette and publicist Melissa Victor, Bieber spent the night with celebs including girlfriend Selena Gomez (who flew in from filming Spring Breakers in Florida), Kim Kardashian, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Mike Tyson and others.

Dressed to the nines in a black and white suit, the man of the hour mingled with his grandparents and other friends who flew in from Canada for the occasion, but largely stuck by Gomez’s side. In addition to his friends-and-family bash, Bieber also scored a one-ofa-kind Fisker Karma eco-friendly sportscar as a gift from Braun, with a reported pricetag of $102,000.

Tisha

Tisha Is about a fifteen-year-old girl, in this age they get some complex choices within the area of relationships, pregnancy and the traditions in which they grew up. The underlying question is whether we can determine our own destiny. Or is our destiny already fixed? The old Wela Mateo runs a lottery where they sell luck, medical tips and magical predictions for those who wants them. She expected that her great-granddaughter Tisha one day will take her place and like all Mateowomen will get children early. But Tisha is still no 15 and dreams of the opportunities that the world has to offer. She can take her future into their own hands and break the circle of traditions? The pressure to her fate is growing by the day. As we know from Teatro KadaKen and artistic director Albert Schoobaar is the presentation dynamic and full of humor. At the same time the public gets a mirror. Because that is where KadaKen stands for: creating theatre that without judging gives a handle to reflect and in conversation to go about its own situation. For the previous production KadaKen is therefore nominated for a fellow of Orange, a Koninkrijksbrede Award for Appeltje initiatives which make a positive contribution to society. A performance in which tradition, sexual morality and the own choice be held against the light. Teatro KadaKen has no ready-made answers, but looks critically and with humor and poetry to the world around us.

The Trinidadian-born American singer, rapper and songwriter, known as Nicki Minaj, has released her brand-new single, “Starships”. This uptempo Dance track is the lead single from her second studio album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded”, scheduled for release in early April 2012 via Universal Republic Records, Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records. The “Radio” edit of “Starships” is featured in our 88rockorsou Urban Spotlight this week. It appears that Nicki Minaj is as provocative as she is ambitious. She premiered “Starships” during the radio show “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2012, just two days after she debuted another new track, “Roman’s Holiday” at the 54th Grammy Awards. Her dark, dramatic, and frightening performance of the single was quite a departure from her fun, feel-good, even infectious lyrics in “Starships”. While premiering her new single on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, Minaj said: “It makes people feel happy and that’s all I want. I want to start the year off with making people feel good. The [Grammy] performance was my clear craziness, and now it’s time to make people dance and have fun, and that’s all I want to do.” In a very short amount of time, Nicki Minaj has successfully displayed her wide range of musical styles and versatility. In addition to wearing unforgettable costumes, and delivering in-your-face performances, she recently collaborated with Madonna and M.I.A. on Madonna’s new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin”, from Madonna’s twelfth studio album. Nicki Minaj joined Madonna and M.I.A. to perform this hit single live for the Super Bowl halftime show. “Starships” is produced by Grammy Award-winning RedOne, also known as Nadir Khayat, who has produced Lady Gaga’s huge hits such as “Just Dance”, “LoveGame”, “Poker Face”, “Judas”, “Bad Romance” and “Alejandro”. RedOne has also produced for Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, and Little Boots, to name a few.

Drake Finally Joins Mary J. Blige In The New “Mr. Wrong” Video

First Mary J. Blige found “The One” with Drake, now she’s calling him “Mr. Wrong” on a brand new track. Mary’s mellow, sorrowful tune, produced by Jim Jonson and Rico Love, features the Take Care rapper dropping a verse about how he knows he’d doing his lady wrong. (Tsk, tsk, Drizzy!) Angie Martinez premiered the duo’s collab, off Blige’s My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act I). There was no bad guy to be found in the original cut of Mary J. Blige’s “Mr. Wrong” video, which premiered last month. But a new version has arrived, packed with 55 seconds of Drake at the front-end. As for the rest of the clip, it remains pretty much the same — i.e. Mary J. singing away while propped up by a stripper pole. Watch the altered “Mr. Wrong” now on Youtube.

A thousand words

Eddie Murphy is Jack McCall, a fast-talking literary agent, who can close any deal, any time, any way. He has set his sights on New Age guru Dr. Sinja (Cliff Curtis) for his own selfish purposes. But Dr. Sinja is on to him, and Jack’s life comes unglued after a magical Bodhi tree mysteriously appears in his backyard. With every word Jack speaks, a leaf falls from the tree and he realizes that when the last leaf falls, both he and the tree are toast. Words have never failed Jack McCall, but now he’s got to stop talking and conjure up some outrageous ways to communicate or he’s a goner. Starring: Eddie Murphy, Cliff Curtis and Kerry Washington Directed by: Brian Robbins genre: Drama, Comedy Release date: March 15th 2012

Movie critic GOOD DEEDS STARRING: Tyler himself, Gabrielle Union, Brian White, Rebecca Romjin, Jamie Kennedy, Eddie Cibrian, Jordenn Thompson, Beverly Johnson and Phylicia Rashad COMMENT: Another Tyler Perry movie and another film that critics throw in the trash. Good Deeds is Perry’s latest foray into film and another film that is devoid of the Madea character. Perry movies that don’t feature the filmmaker in a dress have struggled at the box office. While there are those that are happy that Perry makes an attempt to make films without the Madea crutch, they still don’t seem to fare any better critically.

A Different Kind of Truth is Van Halen’s first original studio album with singer David Lee Roth since the band’s classic multi-platinum album 1984. The Deluxe Edition includes 13song CD plus a bonus DVD featuring 3 brand new acoustic performance videos. This album sounds just as good and as raw as any of their early albums. Stand-out tracks: Chinatown, As-Is, She’s the Woman, Trouble with Never, Stay Frosty, Outta Space, and Big River. However, each and every song is stellar. Young kids can call it dinosaur rock, but I dare any of you to tell these guys that. They are rocking their butts off, and it works! Go now, buy the album! You’ll be glad you did!
