CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
T
his past year has been so life altering for us all, and small businesses were hit especially hard. I’m sad to say that we lost a few wonderful businesses during this unprecedented time, but also pleased to report that we have had a number of new merchants take a chance and open up during COVID. The purpose of a Chamber of Commerce is to support and promote the individual businesses from which it’s formed. Our Malverne Chamber Kathi Monroe has stepped up to the challenge in President a big way this past year, and I am pleased and proud to work with this dedicated group of individuals. They gave of their time and energy to come up with and implement some great ideas to help keep our merchants going and feeling supported. In order for our towns and villages to retain their quality of life, there must be a thriving downtown district. Our goal for the past several months, and ongoing for the coming year, is to find ways to promote more foot traffic in our downtown area. We have been creating more events to draw people onto our main street, and will continue to
do so. These events have been successful and have given some of our merchants a much-needed shot in the arm. As always, we ask that our residents consider shopping in town Before they hit the purchase button on their computers. The difference that can make can also be life altering for your neighbors.
