Welcome When God speaks to Moses in Exodus 33:14, He reminds us, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest”. What a joy it is that our Heavenly Father loves to be with us in relationship and in rest! This message is at the heart of each Richmond holiday; we offer you space to relax, explore your faith and invest in friendships. In these incredible locations and at our UK Office, our Christian staff teams always start the day with prayer and Bible study, putting God first and seeking His wisdom and blessing for the adventures that lie ahead. And what blessings He brings! Last September, at the top of Mount Karvounis in Samos, I got down on one knee and proposed to (my now fiancée) Becky! The love and joy that I associate with Richmond in Samos and the fantastic memories that I have built there made it the perfect place to take this step. So if you’re ready for adventure, or seeking rest, we hope to see you in one of our resorts soon! Adam Playfair Managing Director Richmond Holidays

It is such a joy and privilege to hear from you, our guests, and to find out what made your time away with Richmond special.

Jo & Chris

Here are a few words from Jo, Chris, Rhiannon and Lawson, who enjoyed their summer holidays with Richmond in 2016...

“We never used to return to the same place twice but this is our sixth holiday in Samos – and it won’t be the last! This year, in addition to swimming, kayaking and sampling the hotel’s excellent seafood we borrowed your new bikes to explore locally and see the stunning views. I particularly enjoyed watching the sun rise every morning over the mountains. The Richmond team are always willing to help us create our perfect holiday – thank you!”

SAMOS, JUN 2016

“I loved my holiday in Reberty. The staff were wonderful, food fantastic and activities great. I particularly enjoyed going white-water rafting and visiting Chez Pépé Nicolas where we watched fireworks with hot chocolate served in bowls! Another highlight was the bonfire we had on the last night where we stargazed and made ‘s’mores’! I‘d go back in a heartbeat!”

“It is the whole Richmond package which makes the holiday. The water sports, the Christian company and the location, away from any built-up resorts, are the main features which I enjoy. My daughter, who has come with me on three successive occasions, has described the experience as the perfect holiday.”

Samos, Greek Island Thursday arrivals: 18 May to 13 October 2017 Arriving at Zefiros Beach Hotel, you will be struck by the friendly and peaceful atmosphere. A beautiful location on the coast of the idyllic island of Samos, this family-run hotel is situated just metres from the glistening turquoise Aegean Sea. This resort has so much to offer and can cater to a huge variety of holiday tastes. There is a fantastic RYA watersports centre run by our friendly staff team. Or if you prefer to be ‘in’ rather than ‘on’ the water, then you can swim in the fabulous hotel pool or the crystal-clear sea. What’s more, on shore there is a tennis court with optional coaching, Richmond bikes for use, as well as excursions to explore the island’s 3,000 years of history.

“Thank you for the most fantastic week in Samos. The beautiful location, brilliant activities, delicious food and wonderful Christian atmosphere has left us going home refreshed in every way.” Lucy S, July 2016

04

“It was stunningly beautiful; the rooms were cool and comfortable, the entertainment and outings were relaxed and fun. I particularly enjoyed the friendliness and consideration of all the staff. Absolutely great!” Maria G, July 2016

The hotel’s bright and airy en-suite rooms all have their own balcony with a sea view, as well as air conditioning, a shower and a fridge. Choose from twin, interconnecting, triple and family rooms. A family suite and a penthouse, both with large balconies, are also available. The hotel has a terrace looking out onto Mykali Bay, a perfect location for morning devotions and evening ministry. Our holidays are half-board; enjoy breakfast and dinner in the hotel, with food freshly cooked by the local Greek chefs. For lunch, why not visit the pool-side taverna or venture into one of the local towns of Pythagorio, Kokkari or Samos Town for some delicious local cuisine?

05

Relaxation is a key part of any holiday. Whether floating in the pool, going for a walk along the coastal road to nearby Psili Ammos or relaxing on the sun loungers and listening to the waves crashing on the shore, there are plenty of opportunities to rest and recuperate during your holiday. If you fancy something more active, our Richmond waterfront offers dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. If you are a complete beginner or if would just like some help progressing to the next level, then our qualified and friendly instructors offer RYA courses and refresher lessons. With a safety team always on standby to help, you can enjoy all the fun of being on the water with the knowledge that somebody is looking out for you.

One of the best features of the Samos resort is Richmond’s exclusive watersports centre. Whether you’re after a boat rigged and a push off the beach, or lessons, tips and encouragement on the water, our team is there for you. Hermione, Waterfront Team, Summer 2016

06

The wild, unspoilt and typically Greek landscape of Samos lends itself to some stunning walks and bike rides. Richmond has a range of mountain and hybrid bikes available to you throughout the summer which are included in the price of your holiday. The tried and tested cycle trails around Samos offer options for a variety of abilities. With vineyards, mountains, waterfalls and charming villages across the island, there is plenty to explore. You may you want to join a Richmond excursion, one of our specific Themed Weeks (see pages 10-11) or hire a car and sightsee at your leisure.

Situated at an altitude of 2,000m, the chalet looks out onto the beautiful snow-capped mountain vista and is surrounded by fantastic walks. The chalet has 14 newly-refurbished en-suite bedrooms and you can choose between twin or family rooms. One of the best things about holidaying in France is the delicious food! Our talented Richmond chef prepares breakfast, afternoon tea and a three-course evening meal every day of your holiday. All of this is enjoyed with the bonus of the glorious view out onto the mountains.

08

The Richmond team run excursions throughout the week, including an adventurous high ropes course in Val Thorens, an exhilarating white-water rafting or hydro-speeding

experience and a BBQ at the sun-trap Plan de l’Eau – an idyllic location beside a glacial river, where the brave can go paddling or even swimming! With inspiring times of ministry and exciting activities, the holiday easily creates a sense of friendship, as you enjoy spending time with others and taking time out from your normal routine to relax. Chalet life is great fun and we end the week with a bonfire just outside the chalet with toasted marshmallows, star-gazing and some camp-fire choruses!

Israel Tour 11 to 19 MAY 2017 An opportunity to walk in Jesus’s footsteps, learn about the fascinating history of Israel and bring the stories of the Bible to life. This 9-day tour starts in Tel Aviv and takes you on a captivating journey visiting the area where Jesus grew up, the Lake of Galilee where Jesus started his ministry, the Jordan river where Jesus was baptised and then on to Jerusalem – the town where Jesus healed and prophesied, was later crucified, buried and rose from the grave.

“I view my Bible in a different way now! Everyone was so friendly and the hotels, food and trips were all excellent. I will be recommending the tour to friends. A big thank you to all who made the holiday so special.” Jenny P, May 2016

The itinerary has been refined over the years for Richmond’s guests and follows Jesus’s life and the places He visited. We also make time for other places of interest in Israel, such as the Masada fortress, the caves where The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and Hezekiah’s tunnel – an ancient water tunnel carved thousands of years ago. This jam-packed itinerary also gives you opportunities to catch your breath, reflect on the amazing places visited and spend time with God. One of the afternoons includes a visit to The Dead Sea. At 400m below sea level you can float in the warm salty waters, use the salt to exfoliate your skin and treat yourself to a mud pack if you want the full experience!

13

Solo Travellers The unique atmosphere and environment of a Richmond holiday is one that welcomes and includes everybody into the Christian community. If travelling by yourself, you will be valued and looked after every step of the way – from your initial enquiry, to the moment you arrive in resort, to waving goodbye after a great holiday.

Children & Teen Clubs Samos: 20 JUL to 31 AUG

Reberty: 22 JUL to 26 AUG

During the main summer holidays, we will be running a Children’s Club (4-11y) and a Teen’s Club (12-17y) in both Samos and Reberty. Our friendly and fun Richmond team run exciting and safe activities during the day where children can have fun together. Each evening they lead an age-appropriate time of ministry alongside the main ministry.

“The LORD your God is in your midst, a Mighty One who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.”

14

Zephaniah 3:17

Ministry We understand that a holiday can often be used as a time to get away from the demands and stresses of everyday life, but we believe that one thing a holiday doesn’t have to be is a break from our relationship with God. In fact, we believe a time away of fun and relaxation is a perfect opportunity to grow deeper with our awesome, loving God in the setting of His beautiful creation. We have a dedicated ministry leader in the resort each week running the ministry sessions. They will also be available to chat and pray with you during your holiday. Each day in the resort we hold optional times of prayer, praise and Bible-teaching. This includes a prayer meeting each morning with a short devotional and then, later in the evening, an informal meeting before dinner. We have heard many examples of how a Richmond holiday can be a life-changing experience for guests who were seeking the time to reflect, make tough decisions or take respite from difficult circumstances. At the same time, our holidays are just as valuable for those looking for an exciting or restful time away in our beautiful destinations, serving as a reminder of how great and gracious God is. We’re thankful for the wonderful feedback we receive from many of our guests after returning from a Richmond holiday.

Stay in one of our two beautiful alpine chalets in the fantastic French ski resort, The Three Valleys. The ski lifts and slopes are easily accessed from both chalets, and as the resort is the largest ski area in the world, there is skiing available for every ability. Additionally, non-skiers can still enjoy access to the mountain tops with a pedestrian pass to see the magnificent views and meet up with others for a vin chaud or hot chocolate. Enjoy sitting by the cracking fires and being inspired by the times of ministry whilst taking in the incredible views from the chalet out onto the mountains. Choose between twin, triple and family en-suite room options in both the Reberty and Bettaix chalets.

The ministry couple – Ian and Jan – were absolutely fantastic; the host team were amazing; and the quality of the food was exceptional. The position of the chalet made everything so easy and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. Thank you for a brilliant holiday which left me physically, emotionally and spiritually refreshed.” Ali M, December 2016

I joined expecting to do a one-year internship and now, almost 5 years later, I’m part of the office team working as Head of Marketing and love it!
