Ovation Gala May 4, Mountain Shadows Rosie’s House provides free music education to Valley youth and the annual Ovation Gala helps make that possible. Join the organization for an inspired night of musical performances, students’ stories about how music transformed their lives, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a silent auction. Taking place at Mountain Shadows, guests will also be able to take in the majestic desert views that surround the resort. Proceeds from the event benefit Rosie’s House, which provides free music education to Valley youth 5:30 p.m. $175. www.rosieshouse.org. Parties of Note: The Farm at South Mountain May 7, The Farm at South Mountain This is Phoenix Symphony’s final party of the seasonal series. Guests will be surrounded by nature’s beauty — think blooming flowers and a pecan grove — while enjoying a meal inspired by the venue’s owner, Pat Christofolo, who is a forerunner in farm-to-table cuisine. A Phoenix Symphony brass quintet will accompany the lovely sites and delicious bites for the evening. Dance is the performance’s theme. 6 p.m. $200. www.phoenixsymphony.org. Success Starts With Hope Breakfast May 10, Arizona Biltmore The annual breakfast gives attendees an opportunity to learn about its host, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Arizona (BHGH). This year’s event is particularly special because it marks 30 years of BHGH helping youth and families forge a positive future through quality education and holistic support. Thanks to Brophy College Preparatory, BHGH’s long-time partner, the organization has been able to enact it’s Jesuit mission — to develop men and women for others — since 1989. This year’s breakfast will also celebrate that partnership. Registration, 7 a.m.; breakfast, 7:30 a.m. Free to attend, but donations are encouraged. www.bhghaz.org. Lunch with Ballsfest May 16, Wrigley Mansion Ballsfest is a nonprofit that lifts the spirits of children, young adults and their families affected by cancer with unforgettable experiences. Lunch with Ballsfest is one of those experiences. The inaugural event takes place this month at the historic Wrigley Mansion. Guests will enjoy stunning views of the Valley, a delicious lunch and a brief program that includes presenting a local Baller (a child battling cancer) with extraordinary gifts. The Big Event: A Party with a Purpose May 18, Warehouse215 @ Bentley Projects With a name like The Big Event (TBE): A Party with a Purpose, you know this is bound to be something good. TBE knows that the way to most people’s heart is through food, which is why its offering delicious bites and beverages all night long. There will also be a DJ spinning dance-worthy beats, celebrity hosts, local entertainment and auctions with more than 100 items for sale. Where does “The Party with a Purpose” tag line come in?
