OBITUARIES

Collene Rose Anderson

Collene Rose Anderson, age 69, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on the morning of Friday, November 5, 2021 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. She succumbed to stage four liver disease after dealing with it for years. Collene was born on August 17, 1952 in Richland Center, Wisconsin and graduated from Ithaca High School in Ithaca, WI. She met Paul Reilly, the love of her life, in Richland Center and they spent 47 wonderful years together. Paul and Collene moved around a bit because of job changes and ended up in Manitowoc in 1992. Collene decided to go back to school to obtain a degree in Child Care at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, WI. She then worked for the Salvation Army Day Care from 1993 to 2008 when she retired. Collene enjoyed family and friends, music, flowers, fine dining, walking in the neighborhood, hiking in Wisconsin parks, boating on all sorts of lakes and traveling the world. Collene didn’t complete her whole list of places to go in the world but she put a pretty good dent in the list. Survivors include her husband, Paul Reilly, two brothers and three sisters, William (Karin) Anderson, Kathryn Anderson, Gary Anderson (Tamerlie Tisdell), Renee Anderson (Dan Berkes), and Jenifer (Mark) Laue, one nephew and three nieces, Nick Cardin, Jessica Laue, Valerie Laue and Josie Laue. Collene also has some very special friends, Kim and Betsy Sherman, John Truss, and Kathleen and Nick Birr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Adelaide Poole Anderson, and a brother, Randy Anderson. A much appreciated thank you to Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, and Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, Green Bay for all their help and support. In respect with Collene’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald James Maxwell Donald James Maxwell of Richland Center, 76, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, after a 15-year battle with cancer. Donald was born in Lone Rock, WI to Glen and Agnes (Lord) Maxwell on November 21, 1944. He is survived by his wife, Lorna (Crary) Maxwell. his two daughters, Melissa (John) Fruit, April (Jason) Schildgen of Richland Center, his son Jonathan (Sally) Maxwell of Katy, TX, and four grandchildren, Christopher Schildgen, Alexis Eberhardt, Erica Fruit, Connor Schildgen, Erik McNeil and Isabel McNeil. Donald also has 3 great-grandchildren. Donald graduated from the first class of River Valley High School and met the love of his life, Lorna, in Lone Rock and they were then married on January 4, 1969. They then took their honeymoon in exotic St. Louis. On this trip, his brand-new mother-in-law sewed all of his underwear legs closed, to welcome him to the family. Donald spent 30 years of his life serving the greater Richland County, first as a Sheriff’s Deputy and then as a Richland Center Police Officer. He also took the time to teach multiple hunter safety courses, as well as serving in the role of big brother in the community. In his free time, he enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in extracurricular activities, hunting for wild game and great deals on antiques, fishing, and showering his wife with rare buttons, fabric for quilting, and fine jewelry. For their first Christmas together as husband and wife, he decided to go above and beyond by buying Lorna a vacuum cleaner, which is why he decided to ensure that she received the aforementioned gifts that she actually wanted. Donald was always a giver and turned into a child every Christmas, just to watch the joy in his family’s eyes, as they opened their gifts that Lorna and Donald worked very hard to provide. Donald was also an expert on relationships and especially for keeping a happy marriage. His greatest piece of advice for how to handle marriage arguments/disagreements was passed down to his son. He stated, “Son, when you are in an argument with your wife, you can either be right or happy. Choose one.” A fun-fact about Donald is that he was the inventor of “corny dad jokes”. He had about six of them, but everyone who knew Donald surely heard each one several times. This is the main reason that all of these children and grandchildren know of only one way of catching a polar bear: First, you dig a hole in the ice and then surround the hole with peas. Then when the polar bear comes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice-hole. Funeral services was on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Park Street Christian Church with burial to follow in the Button Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel and again on Thursday, November 18 at the Park Street Christian Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. The family requested everyone wear a mask to the visitation and funeral. The family suggests memorials in Donald’s honor can be made to either the Stained-Glass Fund for Park Street Christian Church or Walk with GRACE. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Words cannot fully express the gratitude we have for our family, friends, and community that helped us both console the loss and celebrate the life of our loved one. We have so many to extend our gratitude towards. Our sincere thanks to Pratts Funeral and Cremation for their service, care, and compassion assisting our family. Your attention to details and assistance adding our personal touch is appreciated. To Pastor Paul Fries for giving us light and comfort and for helping us personalize the memorial service for Denny. To Johnny and Justin Honer and to Steve Fuller for sharing with us their fondest memories of their Uncle and Grandpa during the service. Your words made him proud. To Clyde and Lisa Mueller and kids for the beautiful tribute to Denny they set up along Hwy 58 for the funeral procession. To Donna Meyer and Donna Smith for preparing and serving the wonderful meal afterwards. To all of our family and friends that traveled near and far to celebrate Denny’s life and legacy with us. To all who came to the house, gave us food, flowers, memorial gifts, sent cards, letters, and electronic messages sharing with us their wonderful memories and providing us with words of encouragement and support. You truly lifted us. And thank you to GRACE for their recent financial support. Our community is so fortunate to have this local organization. Following Denny’s death, many friends, neighbors, and community members continued to provide support to our family by helping us harvest his crops and build fence. Thank you to Randy Moe for organizing the harvest volunteers and to everyone who offered their equipment and made time to help with our harvest during an already busy season. We know how busy this time of year is for farmers. The enormous crew that assembled was awesome! We appreciate all of you! We are truly blessed for the generous community that we belong to. We’re so humbled by the love and support we’ve received during this difficult time. Sincerely, The Family of Dennis L Fuller Janet Fuller Jason Fuller Kari and James Honer and Family Kim and Brandon Wanless and Family
