William “Bill” D. Ewing, age 64, of Avoca passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 following a hard fought battle with lung cancer. Bill was born on October 27, 1956 to Donna (Olson) Rakow in Richland Center, WI. Bill loved to go fishing, western shows, cookouts, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Vi Ewing; children, Jenny (Mic) Carl, Tab (her children, Kristina and Nolan) Newbury, Dan III (his children, Randy and Dan IV) Newbury, Tammy (her children Jade and Serenity) Newbury; 5 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Kathy Ewing, Terry Lynn (Jerry) Perkins; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna Rakow. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Avoca Lakeside Park with Military honors conducted by the Avoca Veterans Post #335 at 12:00 Noon. A special thank you to the St. Croix Hospice nurses Sarah and Missy. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com. Dennis B. Denman, age 65, of Plain passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from injuries sustained in an accident at his residence. He was born on November 3, 1955 in Tacoma, Washington the son of Amos and Mary Ann (Gavin) Denman. Dennis was married on February 14, 1976 to the former Diana Walker. Dennis was not a very big man in stature but his presence was huge! He was very intelligent and could do anything he set his mind to. He was a dairy farmer, machinist, arrowhead hunter, drummer, pilot, horseman and elk rancher. He could fix or build anything. Last year at the age of 65 he built a beautiful log cabin. He just imagined it in his head and built it. He was one of the hardest workers his family ever knew. He wore out leather gloves faster than anyone we ever knew. He was a sawyer and avid reader. Dennis was known as Mr. Fixit. He always lived life to his fullest. He rarely went very long without an adventure. He practiced excellent husbandry with his animals. He was a loving and faithful husband. His son Dustin and Dennis were almost inseparable sharing in work and adventures. He had many wishes for his sons and loved and doted on his granddaughter. He was quite a joker, took great care of his health and would run up the hill then show off his muscles to his wife. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Diana Denman of Plain; 2 sons, Damion Denman of Sun Prairie, Dustin Denman of Twin Bluffs; a granddaughter, Jadessa Denman; his mother, Mary Ann Russell of Reedsburg; 3 brothers, Andy (Denise) Denman of Verona, Amos Jr. Denman and Harry (Jenny) Hynek both of Reedsburg; 3 sisters, Amy Denman of Baraboo, Dawn Denman of Friendship, Denise (Joel) Renstrom of Green Bay; an uncle, Robert (Tammy) Gavin of Reedsburg; 2 sisters-in-law, Alvena Wohland of Boscobel and Lori (Wendal II) Kraemer of Plain; a brother-in-law, Larry (Denise) Walker of Arena; Terry Walker of Lyndon Station; Billy Doyle of Lone Rock; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Amos Denman Sr. and a baby brother, Russel. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lone Rock Community Congregational Church with Pastor Craig Peach officiating. Visitation was held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Dennis will be sadly, greatly and deeply missed. No one could ever fill the deep loss this has left. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes. com. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green assisted the family with the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; in-laws;2 brothers Carl and Bill Gies, Grimm brothers-in-law Bob, Bill, Cliff, Fritz, and sisters-inlaw Kay, Winifred, Heidi and Audrey. She was born on June 6, 1929, in Richland County, the daughter of Herb and Rita (Welsh) Gies. She married Thomas “Tom” Grimm on October 2, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center. Mary & Tom would have celebrated their anniversary of 67 years on October 2, 2021. God definitely had a plan. Mary enjoyed serving God, family, friends, and was committed to the health and well-being of her community, particular youth at-risk for substance abuse and suicide. She, with friends and local professionals, founded and ran numerous programs for youth and families - Friday Night Kids group coinciding with recovery programs, Youth Leadership Days, early release days, holiday programs in Riverdale Schools, swimming lessons and passes, Riverway Communities of Hope provides therapy and transportation for youth throughout Southwest Wisconsin. Many of those volunteers and youth have become family. Mary and her team funded these programs through perennial plant and rhubarb sales, donations, and grants. This work is recognized state and locally. Mary was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Jefferson Award, 1981 Heart of Faternalism Award, State of WI. 1st Lady Volunteerism Award and the Grand Marshall for the Morel Mushroom Festival. Mary didn’t do this work alone, she inspired and had so many faithful volunteers. Mary also made masks, burp cloths, and pillowcases during the pandemic. She felt that was her way of helping and she had to do it. Until her last days, she was on a mission. She was known for her cinnamon rolls, jellies, jams, rhubarb desserts, plant sales and prayers. Mary was a kind, determined, sincere, faith-filled, loving woman with a generous heart of a true leader and advocate. If you had been lucky enough to have known her, she would have loved and prayed for you. Mary enjoyed her 90th birthday to the fullest. She had almost 200 people in attendance. She loved every minute of it. Thanks to all who came and shared that blessed day. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Muscoda. No luncheon due to covid. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. John’s Gym in Muscoda. Mask and social distance required. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Riverway Communities of Hope. The Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center is assisting the family with arrangements. www. clarymemorialfuneralhome.com
