DEAN LYN KNOBLE
October 27, 2020 Dean Lyn Knoble, 66, of Richland Center died Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 1, 1954 in Boscobel the son of Milton Andy and Lenice Marie (Lostetter) Knoble. Dean attended Boscobel then Blue River schools before graduating from Riverdale High School in 1972. Dean met and married his best friend and true love Karen Copus and they were married on May 7, 1983. They enjoyed over 38 years of happiness, supporting each other through the good times and bad. Dean and Karen were nearly always together working on projects around home or for community events. They worked together while cutting wood, hunting, mowing, and relaxing with family and friends. Dean grew up working on a farm while attending school. He later worked for Windward Farms, RC Foundry, O’Bryan Brothers, Keller Burial Vaults & Roofing, CMZ Pole Buildings, Wick Agri Buildings and Wisconsin Dairies/Foremost Farms. He retired on January 24, 2020, just shy of 39 years from Foremost due to illness. Dean took pride in his work and tried to instill those values in all he did. Not to say he didn’t get grumpy once in a while, but he truly loved his job and working with people. Dean loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, especially deer hunting, both gun and bow, as well as turkey and pheasant. He thoroughly enjoyed calling in turkeys and was rather successful at getting his bird. He liked to fish, whether it be in a boat or on the bank and was always excited to hear the reports of ‘first ice’
for ice fishing. Dean loved to be outside spending time walking through the woods with Karen and the dogs, his two best buds-Duke and Daisy. He liked driving his tractor and mowing the weeds in the woods, making the lawn ever bigger. He enjoyed relaxing time on the deck just watching the wildlife whether it be with a cup of coffee or a cold beer, especially after a day of mowing, woodcutting or work. Dean enjoyed watching the birds; in the spring the coming of the hummers and the orioles and then as winter approached feeding all the birds of winter. Dean played football in high school and his interest carried through his life as he watched his son play football in high school and he listened to the Richland Center Hornets play on the radio if he was not able to attend a game. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, NASCAR and college hockey. Dean watched more TV in recent months, and it was not uncommon to see him watching The Price is Right, Judge Judy, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. He loved the classics including Gunsmoke, Leave it to The Virginian, Beaver, Seinfeld and Friends. In the evening it was NCIS, police and fire dramas and the occasional Hallmark movie. Dean was a league bowler and enjoyed the camaraderie. He liked to play cards, mainly euchre with family on the computer and complaining about Zelda. He enjoyed joining friends for Friday Night Fish and Ice Cream and Cookies and Chat Time. For many years Dean was involved on committees with Relay for Life, GRACE, and Star Spangled Celebration as well as events associated with those organizations and others Karen would drag him into but he would always go with the flow. Dean was an easy going, kind and gentle, honest man with a heart of gold. He liked to joke around, and you could guess with his constant subtle smile, but you saw his serious side when he was frustrated, or things weren’t going according to plan. Dean was very proud of his
family especially, Jared and his family. Dean had a special bond with Brother Steve, they were near in age and grew up experiencing similar life events and enjoyed many of the same things especially hunting & fishing. Dean is survived by his wife Karen of Richland Center; Son Jared (LaQuai) Knoble of Las Vegas; Two grandchildren: Aliyah and Desirae of Las Vegas; Sisters: Elaine (Emery) Bloyer of Werley and Nancy (Gene) Tharp of New Holstein, Mary of MO; Brothers: Bruce (Diane) of Stoughton and Hollywood, FL, Steve (Lois) of Spring Green, Phil (Jo Ellen) of Yukon, OK, Scott of DeForest, Korey of Dallas, TX; Step-sisters: Lyn Jordan of Blue River, Sandi (Charlie) Johnson of Blue River; Stepbrother: David (Salvador) Dersch of Williamsburg, VA; Sister-in-law: Darlene Snodgrass of Boscobel; Brothers-in-law: Lawrence Copus of Seneca, Marvin Copus of Gays Mills, Merlin (Joyce) Copus of Viroqua, Roger, Stan and Dennis Copus of Soldiers Grove, Clarence (Kathie) Copus of Soldiers Grove, Ed (Lori) Copus of Ferryville, Cliff (Mary Ann) Copus of Boscobel; Pups: Duke and Daisy; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Ruth Drake Dersch Knoble, in-laws Beuford and Bertha Copus, step-brother Greg Dersch, sisters-inlaw Belva and June Copus, and brother-in-law Lloyd Snodgrass. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel and live on the Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service Facebook Page, with burial to follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. I like being able to virtually monitor cow health and activity without having to be physically on the farm. We most recently upgraded our SCR collars a few summers ago and love how advanced and precise the technology is.” - Majestic View Dairy, Amanda Buschor
