KENDA NIMOCKS LUNDGREN
September 6, 2020 Sweet lovely Kenda passed away peacefully at home on September 6 at 77 years of age, succumbing to the ravages of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She was born to Kenneth and Florence Nimocks in Richland Center, WI. After her father’s untimely passing from receiving a contaminated blood transfusion from the U.S. Army, her mother five years later met and married Loyd Goplin and the family moved to his farm in Blue River, WI. Leaving friends and the city behind were a challenge for Kenda. She graduated from Blue River High School where she excelled academically (National Honor Society), musically (pitch-perfect soprano and flute), and activities (interpretive poetry reading and cheer leader). Kenda studied at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, but lack of finances caused her to withdraw. She then moved to Chicago and found fulfilling all the cultural qualities the city could offer. She worked for HMH Publishing and for Blair where she was the first woman in America to sell radio time. She also worked in public relations before moving with her husband Mark to Drexel Hill, PA where Kenda gave birth to and raised their son, Kristopher. Returning to school, Kenda earned an A.A.S. degree in Accounting from Delaware County Community College. She volunteered in support of many school activities, serving as President of the Aronimink Elementary Home and School Association, as a school aide to special needs students, and school board representative for the Upper Darby High School’s Home and School Association. Kenda also worked in administration and development at Philadelphia area colleges and universities. With Mark’s job change in 2001, the couple moved back to Chicago. There Kenda enrolled at Northwestern University and enjoyed museums, theater, fine dining, and ballroom dancing. She was a very accomplished cook with an extensive library of worldwide cuisine, which she so enjoyed trying. Kenda always had a great knack for calming little children who were crying and upset. Whenever she encountered them, her soothing demeanor and recognition of their dilemmas would so engage them that the parents often would ask her if she would take them for a while. Mark called her the “baby whisperer.” She often would say she would love to simply be a “baby cuddler” in a maternity ward. Kenda was a sweet, kind, caring, loving, creative, artistic, “put togeth-
er” independent lady and a stickler for playing by the rules. Kenda and Mark moved to Towson this year to be near their son and family. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Nimocks, her step-father Loyd Goplin, her mother Florence Goplin, her step-brother Roger Goplin, and her sister Donna Burch (Tom). Kenda is survived by Mark, her husband of 42 years, their son Kristopher (Kate) of Dundalk, MD, three grandchildren, Freya, Chase, and Jane Lundgren, her sister Peggy Gralinski (Robert) of Wooster, OH, her brothers Randy Nimocks (Jan) of Blue River, WI, and Ken Nimocks (Trish) of Green Bay, WI, her step-brother Ed Goplin (Cheryl) of Mt. Horeb, WI, her sister-in-law Alana Lundgren Wassung (Robert) of Salem, CT, twenty-two nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews. Kenda was a registered organ and tissue donor, but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic her offer to donate could not be activated. The Ruck Funeral Home in Towson (Towson@ RuckFuneralHomes.com) is performing cremation and this on-line memorial where you can leave your thoughts and well wishes for Kenda and her family. A memorial service was held at the Towson United Methodist Church on September 26th at 11:00 a.m. The family extends its sincere gratitude for the exceptional care Kenda received from her doctors and their staffs at Johns Hopkins Medicine (Dr. Samuel Durso, Dr. Jeffery Rothstein, and ALS Clinician Lora Clawson), as well as the ER team at St. Joseph Medical Center, and the home health care from Amedisys and Right at Home. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed in Kenda’s memory to the ALS Association (https://donate.als.org/give).

CHARLES W. WILSON
September 26, 2020 Charles W. Wilson, 92, of Richland Center died Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Gunderson Healthcare in La Crosse. Charles was born in his parent’s log home, on August 18, 1928, where his parents, Thomas B. and Lillie L. (Rockhill) Wilson raised their family. Charles would often remark that although he grew up during the
Depression years, he and his sisters were unaware of the hardships of that time as they received all the love and attention it was possible to have. The church was a very important part of his life. He was a lifetime member of the Beulah Wesleyan Church, where his parents were among the charter members responsible for building the church in 1925. Charles was later a board member of the church and drove the church van. Charles attended the Marshall School, located about a mile from his home. After finishing his elementary education, he attended Viola High School where he enjoyed his classes, FFA and Cross Country. He has remained in close contact with his graduating class of 1946 and enjoyed their annual reunions. Charles continued to farm with his father, entirely by hand and with horsepower. He also worked as a meat cutter at the Richland Locker and he hauled milk to the Gillingham Cheese Factory. As a member of a local youth group he met several young people including one particularly outstanding, young, and beautiful college student, Gena Winger. Gena and Charles were married on December 12, 1953. They started married life on their farm on Highway H, Marshall Township. They worked the farm together as their family grew to include 4 children. In 1963, Charles and Gena bought a farm on Highway 56 that joined the original Wilson homestead. The couple farmed together until 1994. Charles also worked as a road patrolman for Sylvan and Marshall Townships. He held various positions on the boards of the Town of Marshall and the Beulah Church. After retiring from farming, Charles continued to work at S&S Cycle and then Allen Bradley. He retired for the final time before his 80th birthday. Charles enjoyed his retirement years, socializing with neighbors, working in his woodshop at his home and traveling the United States and Canada with Gena. Charles’ life was filled with hard work and much joy. His greatest joy was his family which included, his wife and children and sister’s families. Charles was respected for his faith, his logic and common sense, his humor, his work ethic, and his genuine interest in the lives of others. Charles is survived by four children: Kathy (JR) Hamby of Richland Center, Karen (Chet) Sumwalt of Richland Center, Becky (Pat) WilsonPodlena of La Crescent, MN, David (Tammy) Wilson of Richland Center; sisters: Anna (Myron) Richard of LaFarge and Myra (Wayne) Felton of Richland Center; 11 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gena and grandson Jacob Charles Wilson. A private family funeral will be held with burial to be held in the Fancy Creek Cemetery. A livestream of Charles’ funeral service was shown on Thursday, October
1, 2020 at 11:00 AM on the Pratt Funeral Facebook Page and on Charles’ obituary page at prattfuneralservice. com at 3:00 PM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. prattfuneralservice.com

It’s Scary To let energy go to waste
WITH PRE-SEASON SAVINGS
Take control of the devices you use every day and save. Phantom load – the electricity consumed while appliance or electronics are turned off but still plugged into an outlet – can result in significant energy loss. To avoid it, plug these energy sucking “vampires” into smart power strips rather than wall outlets, and then hit the off switch on the strip when not in use.
Delivery and Financing Available!
