Existing Conditions: A 244,500 square foot waterfront park that sits on the city of Coronado’s Glorietta Bay. Existing pathways and boat launch ramp are to remain and all existing trees and vegetation. Proposed Improvements: Construct a 18,000 square foot rowing club with all amenities in addition to a 7,000 square foot boat storage structure detached from the rest of the clubhouse. The parti of Glorietta Bay’s new rowing club was to mock the staggered positions of rowing boats in a tight competitive race. The interior structural system also designed to resemble the dramatic structural ribs of a vintage wood rowing boat. In addition, large purlins crossing the wood gluelams were added not only for structural reenforcement, but to create the illusion of being in an inverted structural wood crafted boat haul.
